Gradually it becomes deeper and more active as it flows into a stream, then finally into a vital, rushing river. In this original composition for 3 or 5 octaves, handbells describe the scenario, starting with a simple melody surrounded by quiet randomly malleted bells, followed by a gently flowing section of moving LV bass underneath the treble melody. Gradually, the music develops into a strong, churning section of LV sixteenth notes, the melody above becoming more and more complex. As the piece draws to a close, it returns to the calmer, gentler sounds of the beginning. Living Water is a creative and thoughtful interpretation of the passage from John, and is appropriate in concert or worship when the focus is on faith and belief.
