This latest publication in the Flexible Favorites series is useable throughout the Easter season as well as for Palm Sunday or Advent, using the alternate title Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates. The hymntune TRURO is given a fanfare introduction with full LV chords, then malleted bells accompany the first stanza. The melody moves to the bass in the second stanza, and the use of handchimes is an option. The malleted accompaniment returns for the joyous third stanza, which also features a treble descant. Parts for optional Bb, C, or F treble instrument, or C bass instrument are included.

After a short, fanfare introduction, Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart presents the hymn tune MARION in three settings: 1. traditional 4/4 hymn form, 2. a more meditative setting in 3/4 time, with the melody in mid range, played by optional handchimes, and 3. a stately setting in 4/4 time with a flowing bass bells accompaniment. The first setting of the hymn tune could also be used, with or without treble instrument, to accompany congregational singing of this hymn. The two editions are written so they may be played together in festivals and other multiple bell choir situations.

Leroy Anderson wrote the dance band original, Blue Tango, in 1951, and Billboard magazine ranked it as the No. 1 song of 1952. Its charismatic melody and traditional tango style combined with subtle blues influences captured the spirit of the era, and it became a world-wide sensation. This arrangement for handbells, handchimes, and optional snare drum is a faithful rendition of Anderson's hit song, with its continuously malleted bass line, the melody played on chimes, and the countermelody in the upper treble bells. Grace notes are used extensively, along with TD, RT, mallets, mallet rolls, and gentle syncopation, making Blue Tango a perfect novelty for any concert performance.
