Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1167759 By Ben Webster. By Irving Berlin. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Film/TV,Instructional,Musical/Show. Score. 2 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #768127. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1167759). How Deep Is the Ocean? is a popular song written by Irving Berlin in 1932. The song was developed from an earlier Berlin song To My Mammy which was sung by Al Jolson in his film Mammy (1930). In the earlier song, the lyrics include the questions How deep is the ocean? (How high is the sky?) and this was the genesis of How Deep Is the Ocean?.This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. For interest and to keep the rhythm moving, we added some pretty cool left-hand fills. We hope you like what we've done with the song!
