Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1353635 Composed by Philip Seward. 21st Century,Broadway,Chamber,Contemporary,Musical/Show,Opera. Score. 79 pages. Music Anon #938378. Published by Music Anon (A0.1353635). Music by Philip Seward • Libretti by Joan Mazzonelli & Philip SewardThis volume offers four scenes for women singers for use in opera scene study and performance. There are a wide range of characters represented and various musical styles. The first is from High Fidelity which has been adapted from Anton Chekhov’s The Bear and George Bernard Shaw’s How He Lied to Her Husband. There are also references to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte later in the score. In this opening scene, Aurora Wentworth is practicing the mourning she believes society expects of her while her cousin, Georgina, from Milwaukee arrives to spice up the summer morning. The second scene from Dorabella’s Daughters finds Anabella trapped in a woodsman’s cottage the day after her wedding. The opera opens at the wedding reception for her stepsister Cinderella where Annabella is particularly spiteful. In a fury, she marries the next man who walks in the room — as it happens,  a woodsman — or so she thinks. In this scene she is mourning her fate. Her younger sister, Brendella comes to visit and the two are joined later by their very happy stepsister, Cinderella. The third scene from The Passion of John presents three women with their own perspectives on Jesus in this stylized presentation of the Gospel of John. The first singer offers the perspective of the gospel, the second presents a firsthand narrative of the Samaritan woman and the third is the woman who was accused of adultery. All three are accompanied by a women’s choral ensemble, flute, classical guitar and cello. The final scene in this collection comes from The Proposal. The opera is composed as two loosely joined acts where the first is sung by four women and the second by three men. The action concerns the aftermath of a proposal of marriage where the woman, Eve, asks for time to consider. The unexpected response sends Sam into a bit of a tailspin. In this scene, from the end of the first act Eve is arguing with three versions of herself in the middle of the night: the romantic, the maternal and the one focused on career. The scene opens right after Eve-Romantic has just waxed poetic about the perfect fairytale romance.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1435089 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. 21st Century,Classical,Opera. Score. 48 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #1015189. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1435089). Opera Scenes 1. At the Clothing Department (3:00); 2. To Get a Ration (9:00) - vocal soloists & piano or chamber ensemble (cl, bn, tpt, tbn, perc, vln, vc) with live or prerecorded crowd noise - 2021, 2024. The libretto is comprised of the insightful observations of a young Jewish boy—Abraham “Abramek” Koplowicz—who was trapped by the Nazis in the Lodz ghetto and who later died in Auschwitz. The libretto appears before each scene in the scores. This may be a relatively brief piece, but it is a major one for me and posthumously for the author. I am fortunate to be the only person given blanket gratis permission to set the words of Abraham Koplowicz to music. He composed a book of poetry, plays, and artwork while imprisoned in the Lodz Ghetto before perishing later in Auschwitz before he could become a Bar Mitzvah. The contents of that book are quite good, sophisticated for his age. Abraham's late half-brother, Eliezer Grynfeld—who found the book in the 1990s—and I eventually became good friends. The Pope once kissed Eliezer's hand. That is how highly regarded this collection is and, by some stroke of luck or fate, I have got exclusive musical rights to the book until it enters the public domain. In my settings of AT THE CLOTHING DEPARTMENT and TO GET A RATION, I combine the musical language of Schoenberg's A SURVIVOR FROM WARSAW very nearly with the instrumentation of Stravinsky's A SOLDIER'S TALE - only the percussion instruments differ. The musical language of these brief opera scenes is appropriately terse, very much in keeping with the oppressiveness of imprisonment. Please have a look and a listen. Thank you for your consideration. ---Words originally in Polish by Abraham (“Abramek”) Koplowicz (b. 1930, Lodz, Poland, d. 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau) Translation by Sarah Lawson and Ma?gorzata Koraszewska Adapted by Stanley M. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1111262 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 12 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #713542. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.1111262). Interlude and the Cleansing is a science-fiction song set in a universe where myriapods—a subphylum of arthropods containing millipedes and centipedes—are sentient and sapient. The song is the second song in a cycle beginning with The Calculus of Division, which centers on a plot by the more advanced centipedes to dominate the millipedes by sowing doubt in math and thereby divide them into factions. While distracted, the carnivorous centipedes will eat the detritivorous—eating organic waste such as rotting wood—millipedes’ young. Interlude and the Cleansing is a story of the Black on Brown faction that is described in the first song as “sustained by fear and dread.” In the song, one of the Black on Browns has been found murdered. The chemical traces of his last thoughts and words are cleansed from his body. The song is the second in a trilogy of songs set in this unforgiving universe.
