The song has been covered by many musicians and has become a jazz standard. The first hit version was Bessie Smith's 1923 recording, which stayed on the charts for four weeks peaking at No. 6. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in many of our arrangements and we added a few left-hand fills to keep that smooth rhythm flowing!

I Can't Get Started aka I Can't Get Started With You or I Can't Get Started (With You) is a popular song first heard in the theatrical production of Ziegfeld Foliies in 1936 where it was sung by Bob Hope to Eve Arden. It has been recorded by Bunny Berigan, Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday and many other artists and musicians. This is a contemporary arrangement featuring a root-based chord-blocking method we have used in nearly all of our arrangements. It's a fun song to play and not too difficult, John and I hope you like it!

This Can't Be Love is a show tune and a popular song from the 1938 Rodgers and Hart musical The Boys from Syracuse when it was sung by Eddie Albert and Marcy Westcott. The lyrics poke fun at the common depiction of love in popular songs as a host of malignant symptoms, saying, This can't be love because I feel so well. This version was developed from a lead sheet and was simplified so that someone with average ability can play it and sound good doing so.
