THERE’S GOTTA BE SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS from the musical SWEET CHARITY. VOCAL TRIO with 9 Part Band accompaniment in KEY of A (original show key) - THIS IS THE PIANO/VOCAL PART ONLY. This exuberantly energetic song from the hit musical SWEET CHARITY by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields is arranged in a style that is true to the original Broadway version of the song. Even the dialogue that happens within the song is in the music. All the Dance breaks have been omitted, although there is a few instrumental transitions to show of your musicians. This will be an audience pleaser.  The 9 Piece accompaniment is scored for: REED 1 (Flute, Piccolo, Bb Clarinet, Alto Sax), REED 2 (Clarinet, Flute, Tenor Sax), Bb Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Piano, Bass, Drums, Percussion.

Sweet Charity opened on Broadway in 1966 starring Gwen Verdon. The 1969 film starred Shirley MacLaine. The 1986 Broadway revival starred Debbie Allen and the 2005 Broadway revival starred Christina Applegate. There’s Gotta Be Something Better is a trio for three girls. The song is about 3 girls that yearn for a better job and a better than life and decide to go in search for their dreams,

On the Sunny Side of the Street is a 1930 song composed by Jimmy McHugh with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Some authors say that Fats Waller was the composer, but he sold the rights to the song. This version features a root-based chord-blocking technique developed from a lead sheet that John and I have used in a number of our arrangments. It sounds great has a definite stride feel when played as written - we hope you like it!

The Way You Look Tonight is a song from the film Swing Time that was performed by Fred Astaire and composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics written by Dorothy Fields. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936. This is a contemporary piano-only arrangement that makes use of a root-based chord-blocking technique that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some interesting left-hand fills and counter-melodies that we think make for an interesting and fun to play arrangement - John and I hope you like what we've done!
