Moonlight Serenade - is an American swing ballad composed by Glenn Miller with subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish. It was an immediate phenomenon when released in May 1939 as an instrumental arrangement, though it had been adopted and performed as Miller's signature tune as early as 1938, even before it had been given the name Moonlight Serenade. In 1991, Miller's recording of Moonlight Serenade was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. I offer a piano version of the Moonlight Serenade for the intermediate level

Moonlight Serenade is an American swing ballad composed by Glenn Miller with subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish. In 1991 Miller's recording of Moonlight Serenade was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. This version features a root-based chord-blocking technique that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We added a few left-hand fills to make it a little more interesting - not that it wasn't interesting enough, I mean we're talking Glen Miller here!
We hope you like this version!

Skylark is an American popular song with lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Hoagy Carmichael, published in 1941. Several artists recorded charting versions of the song in 1942, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra (vocal by Ray Eberle), Harry James and His Orchestra (vocal by Helen Forrest), Dinah Shore, and Bing Crosby. The Glenn Miller recording on RCA Bluebird peaked at no. 7 on the Billboard pop singles chart. This song is considered a jazz standard. Additionally, it is believed to have inspired a long-running Buick car of the same name that was produced from 1953 to 1998. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! It's a fun song and not too hard to play!

The verse with the lyric Won't you come along with me / To the Mississippi... was later added by Glenn Miller and Jack Teagarden. The Basin Street of the title refers to the main street of Storyville, the red-light district of early 20th-century New Orleans, north of the French Quarter. It became a red light district in 1897. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. For interest and to keep the rhythm moving, we added some pretty cool left-hand fills. We hope you like what we've done with the song!
