This Nearly Was Mine is a song featured in the 1958 film South Pacific with music composed by Richard Rodgers and lyrics written by Oscar Hammerstein II. In the song, Emile de Becque (Rossano Brazzi) grieves for the love-filled life he might have known while feeling he has lost the love of his life. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some pretty cool left-hand fills for your listening (playing?) pleasure - we hope you like what we've done to make this arrangement unique!

Edelweiss was composed by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music.  The song became even more popular after the 1965 film adaptation of this musical.  This arrangement by Marcia L McKenna for SA Choir, Flute and Keyboard starts simply with the SA choir singing in harmony and the flute complimenting the choir with its own embellished melody.  In the middle section the music gains a flowing feeling with eighth note broken chords in the piano and flute parts, followed by a return to a simpler rhythmic pattern leading us gently to the end.  A Piano/Vocal/Guitar version of the score by Marcia L McKenna is also available on Sheet Music Plus.

I HAVE CONFIDENCE from the motion picture THE SOUND OF MUSIC by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.  This is the PIANO/VOCAL ONLY. VOCAL SOLO (for Mezzo, Tenor or Baritone voice) with 9 piece Band accompaniment. The Broadway Concert Series. REED 1 (Flute, Bb Clarinet), REED 2 (Bb Clarinet), VIOLIN, Bb TRUMPET, TROMBONE, PIANO, BASS, DRUMS, PERCUSSION. I Have Confidence, which takes place in the movie as Maria travels from the Abbey to the von Trapp home, was added as an altogether new idea not previously present in the stage plot. Notably, I Have Confidence took the melody of its introduction from the introduction to the title song, unused in the film. This new song featured music and lyrics by Richard Rodgers as Oscar Hammerstein II had passed away in 1960, making Edelweiss the last lyric he was ever to write. This arrangement is true to the movie arrangement.
