Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077772 Composed by Alan Bullard. 20th Century,Classical. Score. 35 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #681954. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1077772). Alan Bullard's song 'The Solitary Reaper' is printed here in four separate versions, for high voice and piano, or violin, or oboe, or treble recorder/flute. Originally written for soprano and violin, this setting of Wordsworth’s well-known poem has since been performed in three other versions. The lyrical portrayal of a maiden working in the fields, singing 'as if her song could have no ending' inspired the composer to write a delicately flowing setting of the words supported by a 'never-ending' instrumental ostinato. ‘The revelation, when listening to this admirable CD, was the music of Alan Bullard. The Solitary Reaper is such a fascinating composition I found myself returning to it time and time again' Steve Ford, Avant magazine. (The recording here is of the voice and violin version. A recording of the voice and piano version can be found on Soundcloud.).
