Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.896705 Composed by Hannah Baldoz. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Hannah Baldoz #5851077. Published by Hannah Baldoz (A0.896705). Remember - An original composition with music and lyrics by Hannah BaldozDedicated to someone special. I hope you will always remember that you are loved.Lyrics: 'Don't forget that I still love you,' was all I could say. I remember being scared to let you go that day. But I, I hope... I hope you know that you are more than enough. I pray you'll find yourself and never give up. I hope above all else you'll remember you are loved. Life is tough and you have been hurt. Everything seems wrong. Just hang in there. You're a fighter. I know you are strong. I hope you chase your dreams and always go far. I pray you'll never forget who you are. I hope that you'll remember how loved you are. Maybe for now this is the end, but if someday we meet again, know in me you'll still have a friend. And even though we fell through, I'm thankful for whatever once was true. You changed my life and I will always remember you. Even though my heart is broken, I'll remember you. I still see the good in you and I hope you do too.© 2015 by Hannah Baldoz. All rights reserved. For more music by Hannah Baldoz visit https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNhkUVEv4QBCytIbBIPG6xg

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1493833 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,21st Century,Chamber,Classical. Score. 63 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #1070490. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1493833). Full score.Program note.  While looking for more poems to set in Italian, I thought maybe Italo Calvino had written some. Unfortunately he did not, but in the process of my research I stumbled upon Cesare Pavese, 1908-1950. To know a bit more about this person, I contacted my Italian colleague, Giorgio Rimondi, who is a professor in Ferrara, Italy. Giorgio gave me a nice summary of Pavese's life and work. So I went on Amazon and bought a bilingual book of his poems: Disaffections. The poems that intrigued me the most were the ones he wrote for his paramour, the American model and actress, Constance Dowling. The last poem he wrote before he committed suicide at the age of 41 was dedicated to her: Death will come and will have your eyes. I chose that poem as the anchor of a set of eight poems for the song cycle. 1. Ancora tu sei l'amore 2. To C. from C.*** 3. In the morning you always come back 4. Verrŕ la morta e avrŕ i tuoi occhi 5. Passerň per Piazza di Spagna 6. The night you slept 7. I gatti lo sapranno 8. Last blues, to be read some day*** NB: Two of the poems with *** are originally in English. I thought an English setting within a song cycle that is Italian would be a bit jarring. So I asked my friend Giorgio if he could make me an Italian version of the poems. He instead informed me that Italo Calvino had already made a literal translation of those two English poems. Thanks, Giorgio and Italo.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1180574 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary. Score. 24 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #780478. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1180574). John Cage and I share the same birthday: September 5th. He was born in 1912 and my birth year is 1945. There must be some cosmological link between us because he has always intrigued me - philosophically and musically. Recently I was in my colleague Prof. Jeremiah McGrann's office waiting for him to join me for a martini lunch after a day of teaching. I noticed on his desk a hardcover copy of John Cage I-VI. I asked what it was and he said it is John Cage's Charles Elliot Norton Lecture he gave at Harvard University in 1988-89. I looked inside and there were these mesostics. Very sparsely distributed on each page, and it looked fascinating, like some hieroglyphic art. I was immediately intrigued by it and thought right on the spot that I should buy a copy and maybe create a song cycle from the texts. Upon further research, I found out that John Cage compiled the content for his lecture using excerpts from works by Thoreau, Emerson, Wittgenstein, McLuhan, Buckminster Fuller, plus passages from The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor and The New York Times. He then created the final text for his lecture by using chance operations with the assistance of a computer program that he created. And so I did the unthinkable, create a song cycle of words that has no meaning nor narrative in the traditional sense. Quoting John Cage: I have nothing to say, I am saying it, and that is poetry. John Cage I-VI (2023) is in six movements, scored for soprano and piano.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284058 Composed by Spiritual. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Chamber,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. Score. 9 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #875231. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1284058). “Crossing Jordan” grew out of my daughter Kiana’s surprise request that I arrange a spiritual for voice, piano and cello for her senior recital. She received a degree in commercial music the year before COVID shut everything down, at a time before climate change made blizzards an anomaly here in Central PA. As a result, snow days still existed. I spent one of them doing the first draft of “Deep River,” her favorite.Later, I decided that if singers engage a cellist for a concert, they might like to program more than one piece for them, so I chose two more water-themed spirituals to complete the set. “His Name So Sweet” is a more meditative version of the song than I’ve generally heard. I wanted the piano, cello, and briefly the voice to imitate the fountain in the text. The mood is ecstasy, resulting from the fundamental change that baptism is meant to create. “Deep River” also includes “Michael Row The Boat Ashore” and “The Water Is Wide.” The latter isn’t a spiritual, however, taken together the message is that the river is deep, the water is wide, but with (the Archangel?) Michael’s help, Jordan can be crossed. “Wade in the Water” is one of the most well-known spirituals. I focus on the idea of escaping enslavement: the opening is quiet, furtive, maybe even nervous. The Moses in the text can be understood to be Harriet Tubman, who might urge escapees to wade in the water so pursuing dogs couldn’t follow their scent. In my mind, the ending symbolizes that the party has vanished, never to be enslaved again. This arrangement was created at the request of pianist Julia Carey. It is the only piece of the three that has been transcribed for this combination. The YouTube video is for soprano, piano and cello.
