This song, written by American singer and musician Leon Russell. It was originally recorded in 1972 by Russell for his album Carney. It was also recorded by American vocal duo, The Carpenters, for their 1973 album Now & Then. This Masquerade was also recorded by American singer and guitarist George Benson - it became the first big hit of his career. This contemporary version features a root-based chord-blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. Merry Christmas, Darling is a Christmas song by the Carpenters (music by Richard Carpenter, lyrics by Frank Pooler), and originally recorded in 1970. It was first available on a 7-inch single that year (A&M Records 1236), and was later re-issued in 1974 (A&M 1648) and again in 1977 (A&M 1991). The single went to number one on Billboard's Christmas singles chart in 1970 (and did so again in 1971 and 1973) and peaked at number 41 in Cashbox. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. For interest and to keep the rhythm moving, we added some pretty cool left-hand fills. A Song for You is a song written and originally recorded by rock singer and pianist Leon Russell for his first solo album Leon Russell, which was released in 1970 on Shelter Records. A slow, pained plea for forgiveness and understanding from an estranged lover, the tune is one of Russell's best-known compositions. Russell sang, played piano, and played tenor horn on the recording. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements and we added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills!
