I learned that perfectionism is one possible syndrome of rejection syndrome, and that the antidote to rejection syndrome is to learn to feel accepted in Jesus Christ. ♫ This journey has been extremely threatening but powerfully liberating. In the early morning light it's hard to see exactly what is and what isn't there. Objects that are seen clearly in the light of day are elusive and can't be seen directly in the grey light of the morning. In the grey light of life it is unclear if relationships are strong or weak. Many times the feelings I have had for other people exist because I really do not know them. I imagine that they are better or more wonderful than they really are because of my lack of knowledge about them. Sometimes it seems that I want what might have been or what might be more than I want reality. In the light of day all shadows disappear.

This is a melancholy little piece for piano and voice inspired by that feeling you get when you're rather down and you simply don't feel like going anywhere or doing anything. I was feeling particularly depressed and unmotivated one day; so much so that I didn't even feel like going to jazz band (which is saying something). In the few minutes before jazz band started, I took some time in a practice room to try and put my feelings to music, and I Am Not In The Mood For Jazz was born.
