This male and female duet of this title has been arranged many times since Shakespeare wrote As You Like It and Thomas Morely wrote the first madrigal for it in 1590. My rendition sticks exactly with the Shakespeare. It has a simple tune for those good old country folk sung almost entirely in unison. The piano accompaniment is another story. Together they make a joyful sound.

It had no piano accompaniment, but only a weak trumpet fanfare.  Now, to celebrate the 4th of July 2023, I have extended and enriched my original composition, adding one more line of the Declaration and a stirring piano accompaniment.  America, in these perilous times needs again to read Jefferson's words;  America, to save its soul needs to sing Jefferson's words.

THE GREAT COMMISSION is a sermon song which highlights Acts 1:1-11 and the  prophecy of Joel 2:28 from a sermon delivered by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church Fort Myers, Florida on April 7, 2024. On the day before, Rev. Roger Peterson, told the congregation by phone that the sermon coming, The Great Commission, would describe a time when, The world was turned upside down.  That lead me to research the tune, of that title, that I knew was played by the British at the end of the Battle of Yorktown. I used that tune to produce unison singing for a congregation with a stirring piano accompaniment.

DAVID LEE GINGRAS #784408. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1184725). Peg O' My Heart is a popular song written by Alfred Bryan (words) and Fred Fisher (music). It was published on March 15, 1913 and it was featured in the 1913 musical Ziegfeld Follies. The song was inspired by the main character in the very successful Broadway play of the time, Peg o' My Heart, that debuted December 20, 1912 at the Cort Theatre in NYC. The play was written by J. Hartley Manners and starred Laurette Taylor in the title role. Taylor appeared on the cover of early published sheet music. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some left-hand fills to keep the rhythm moving along.
