Composed by Richard Joseph Barber. Christian,Contemporary,Gospel,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Barber Music Company #4727367. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915701).

Dedication

Sometime in the 1980's, Richard Tober, a brother in Christ who was also an appliance repair man, came to our house on Hill Street in Coloma, Michigan to fix our kitchen range. He knew that I was a composer, and during the course of his time with us that day he told about his love for Jesus and his aspiration to write poetry with music to express that love. He didn't feel he was equipped to put music to his words, but he did have a poem that he gave me, wondering if I would set it to music for him. It was a difficult task because Richard's poetry was not set up in any formal poetic fashion; it was, however, a fulfilling task because his poem was such a simple, childlike, personal expression of his love for the Lord. I Am Going Home to Glory is the result of our collaboration. He was thrilled with the outcome. Now that Richard has left this world to be with Jesus, I am happy that God allowed and enabled me to set Richard's poem to music. -Richard Barber

Composed by Tiffany Prochera. Arranged by Tiffany Prochera. Children,Christmas,Holiday. Score. 79 pages. Swimming Tigress Music #1073003. Published by Swimming Tigress Music (A0.1496482).

I Don't Like Winter and Other Songs to Celebrate the Winter Season is a collection of 11 songs for young singers filled with tunes about all aspects of the winter season - from skating alone on the pond in the backyard, picking out presents for siblings,  spending time with the family, embracing the cold, wanting to escape the cold, going to visit Santa for the first time, and being so enthusiastic to celebrate all of the special days that happen at this time of year!

This collection was inspired by a voice teacher friend of mine - serendipitously also named Tiffany  :-) -  who was looking for songs about the season that were non-traditional and relatable to a wider range of singers. It's my pleasure to offer up some options!

I had so much fun writing these songs and I hope students, teachers, and audiences alike enjoy them just as much! May you laugh as you state your case to go on a winter vacation.  May you cry at the idea of wearing a special hat made with a grandmother's love. May you be left  breathless with joy as you glide on a frozen pond with no one else around.  In addition to all of these brand-spankin' new tunes, I also included the previously-released  Everyone's a Kid at Christmas because, well, it's a hoot!

These are crowd pleasers perfect for holiday recitals, and some can be performed in a group as well as solos.

A note for teachers: These songs do have varying ranges. I, for the most part, notated them as I conceived of them. But I did my best to provide alternate pitches in case the melody goes a little high or a little low. So, I invite to you peruse a song in it's entirety and see where there may be options even if the designated range may seem a little wide. It is my intention to make these songs as accessible to as many singers as possible.

Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. Children,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Kevin G. Pace #954376. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1370002).

A children's song, telling the story of the sons of Mosiah from the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Kathryn W. Hales.

Text:
The Lord told King Mosiah to let his sons go away,
To the land of Nephi where for many years they'd stay.
They wanted to preach the gospel in the Lord's ministry,
To the sinful, wicked Lamanites who were their enemies.

Now one of the sons was Ammon who had been a rebellious youth,
But after Alma's change of heart, he wanted to know the truth.
He became Lamoni's servant, watching over the king's sheep,
He beat some robbers who came to steal, leaving a pile of arms at his feet.

Then he taught King Lamoni the true source of his strength and might,
That the king should change his ways, repent and do what's right.
Lamoni believed what Ammon taught and all his people too,
They became so very righteous because God's promises are true.

Aaron was another son of Nephite King Mosiah,
He taught of the Creation, of the Fall and God's Son who would die
To save all men from death and sin, yea, Jesus, the Holy One,
Who would come to earth at some future day to save each and ev'ry one.

Omni and his brother Himnor were also Mosiah's sons,
But not much is recorded about their missions.
But they were faithful servants during all their trial filled days,
They taught many people how to walk in God's own chosen way.

Chorus:
I want to be like Mosiah's sons and share God's holy word.
I can be a missionary, a servant of the Lord.
I can be so very courageous, I can the gospel teach,
That all may know God's holy grace is within their loving reach.

Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary. Score. 44 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #780475. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1180571).

John Cage and I share the same birthday: September 5th. He was born in 1912 and my birth year is 1945. There must be some cosmological link between us because he has always intrigued me - philosophically and musically.

Recently I was in my colleague Prof. Jeremiah McGrann's office waiting for him to join me for a martini lunch after a day of teaching. I noticed on his desk a hardcover copy of John Cage I-VI. I asked what it was and he said it is John Cage's Charles Elliot Norton Lecture he gave at Harvard University in 1988-89. I looked inside and there were these mesostics. Very sparsely distributed on each page, and it looked fascinating, like some hieroglyphic art. I was immediately intrigued by it and thought right on the spot that I should buy a copy and maybe create a song cycle from the texts.

Upon further research, I found out that John Cage compiled the content for his lecture using excerpts from works by Thoreau, Emerson, Wittgenstein, McLuhan, Buckminster Fuller, plus passages from The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor and The New York Times. He then created the final text for his lecture by using chance operations with the assistance of a computer program that he created.

And so I did the unthinkable, create a song cycle of words that has no meaning nor narrative in the traditional sense. Quoting John Cage: I have nothing to say, I am saying it, and that is poetry.

John Cage I-VI (2023) is in six movements, scored for soprano and piano.

SKU: A0.829234

Composed by Tim Minchin. Arranged by Brianne Lundberg. Broadway,Children,Contemporary,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score. 6 pages. Brianne Lundberg #5288581. Published by Brianne Lundberg (A0.829234).

This playful piece from Matilda the Musical explores how children see grown ups and all that they imagine they will be able to do when they’re grown up. With a driving beat and a perfect balance between lightheartedness and solemnity, “When I Grow Up†is a fantastic and engaging modern musical theatre piece.

This is an intermediate piano arrangement with optional vocal solo, set in the original key (F major). 5 pages (plus cover); includes repeats with 1st and 2nd endings. It is written in the same style as the original, but simplified to make it playable for an early to mid intermediate pianist. Good for smaller hands (largest harmonic interval is minor 7th). Includes chord symbols.

This arrangement is a great standalone musical solo piece and includes all lyrics up through the verse originally written for Miss Honey; ends after this section (does not include the final upbeat section where Matilda's lyrics begin with Just because you find that life's not fair...).

May be performed as a piano solo or as a vocal accompaniment. If used for vocal accompaniment, the vocalist should read the Treble staff of the piano part. Lyrics indicate which notes to follow. Vocalist should adjust octaves as needed. Lower harmonies are generally meant to be played by the pianist (not sung).

I’ve Tried Song Description Song Creation A fundamental idea behind each lyric in this song was developed by the Lyricist and Composer, Jackaleen Justice, who poured her heart and soul into the makings of this musical artwork. The lyrics attempt to depict a time in her life when she felt the same way as the singer in dealing with a challenging situation on her journey through life. In creating this musical artwork, the composer wanted to evoke an idea of a long-term relationship and being hurt often over many years. Throughout the years, many people around the world have been hurt in relationships. The song’s Composer wanted to help those around the world who have been in similar position to be able to relate to those feelings through this piece of musical artwork. Song Composition While creating the rhythm for this song, the composer aimed for a moderately slow tempo. After the lyrics were added, the target of approximately 80 - 90 beats per minute became unattainable, resulting in 78 beats per minute instead. In the end, it proved to be a much better tempo for the song, because it made the final piece sound much more polished and superior. Song Completion This musical piece is perfect for someone looking for a well-written and well-composed song that has rhythm that makes it stand out from all the others. With the right vocalist, this song has great potential in the music industry.

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Rock. Score. 10 pages. Jeff Tincher #5316069. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.584180).

This is one of The Beatles' songs that has a classical flare to it. In the original key, this song had a profound effect at the time it was released. The story of a daughter leaving home and the reaction of her parents was just beginning to happen in families of that time. This is one of the few over 3 minute songs of that time as well. I catagorized the arrangement as intermediate because of the ranges the instruments have to play. Duration = 3:22. Composed by Jill Hudson. Sacred. 7 pages. Jill Hudson #6408639. Published by Jill Hudson (A0.1005544).

Written for the women of Saint Luke's Presbyterian Church and their Spring service, to go along with the bible study for 2021. Into the light - finding hope through prayers of lament by P. Lynn Miller, explores the relationship of lament to scripture. One of the foundational points of the study is that, in scripture, lament usually leads to hope. After crying out to God, the one who laments remembers God. And while that doesn’t fix things in the moment-the injustice, the loss still exists-the lamenter is strengthened to face the world and to hope..
