Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281185 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. Christian,Easter,Lent,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Kevin Longley #872527. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1281185). He Will Lead Me Home (choral church anthem composed in 2023)The InspirationA few Easter seasons ago, during one of our Tuesday Choir rehearsals, we were preparing for “Good Shepherd Sundayâ€. Diane our Choir director commented “there are very few Good Shepherd pieces to choose fromâ€. One of our sopranos replied “Let's write our ownâ€. I made note of it and this past year finally found the time and inspiration to give it a try. I did my usual research on the subject matter and then found a drawing of a Shepherd standing at the top of a hill with his sheep lined up behind him. Leaning on his staff the Shepherd was contemplating the safest route home. Upon his decision he looked back and called to his sheep. The MusicThe music begins with a piano introduction depicting the Shepherd standing at the top of the hill contemplating the safest route home, as noted earlier. Stately in nature it features a simple melodic idea, played by the right hand, which is then answered by a series of majestic chords. This “back and forth†continues until it reaches its climax at a D flat major chord against a slur from a high G to F. At this point we hear what will be a reoccurring chordal theme of C major to F major and later C minor to F major. The accompaniment begins, now in three quarter time signifying the sheep beginning to move in response to the shepherds call. The verse melody is drawn from the opening three notes of the introduction but with a different rhythm and repeats it self with underlying harmonic changes. The melody and chord structure is somewhat impressionistic in nature. Lyrically a contrast is drawn between how the Shepherd (Jesus) provides for his sheep (followers) and how God provides for the “sheep†(animals) through nature. As the verse comes to an end we are lead to the realization that “the shepherd is the Lord our King, the Good Shepherd Kingâ€. The refrain begins with the tenor continuing to solo on the main melody. â€He Will Lead Home†is realized and proclaimed! A soprano descant is added for contrast. Harmonically the music makes use of the various minor key options, “melodic, harmonic and naturalâ€. The refrain concludes proclaiming “The Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€. The second verse shadows the thought pattern of verse one leading to the refrain once more but this time a bridge is introduced to add drama with the piano playing a significant role. A return to the refrain is varied with the tenor singing a portion of it against softly played chords; but then resumes its rhythmic drive to its ultimate conclusion by repeating “the Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€.Program NotesVoicing can be varied based on what types of singers are available. For example this could be sung by 2 tenors with one singing the descant down an octave. Finally as noted in the score, the intro is optional though I prefer it be played; the shepherd contemplating a safe route is important in the music with its contrast to the verse music and important in our life of faith.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1180571 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Chamber,Contemporary. Score. 44 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #780475. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1180571). John Cage and I share the same birthday: September 5th. He was born in 1912 and my birth year is 1945. There must be some cosmological link between us because he has always intrigued me - philosophically and musically. Recently I was in my colleague Prof. Jeremiah McGrann's office waiting for him to join me for a martini lunch after a day of teaching. I noticed on his desk a hardcover copy of John Cage I-VI. I asked what it was and he said it is John Cage's Charles Elliot Norton Lecture he gave at Harvard University in 1988-89. I looked inside and there were these mesostics. Very sparsely distributed on each page, and it looked fascinating, like some hieroglyphic art. I was immediately intrigued by it and thought right on the spot that I should buy a copy and maybe create a song cycle from the texts. Upon further research, I found out that John Cage compiled the content for his lecture using excerpts from works by Thoreau, Emerson, Wittgenstein, McLuhan, Buckminster Fuller, plus passages from The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor and The New York Times. He then created the final text for his lecture by using chance operations with the assistance of a computer program that he created. And so I did the unthinkable, create a song cycle of words that has no meaning nor narrative in the traditional sense. Quoting John Cage: I have nothing to say, I am saying it, and that is poetry. John Cage I-VI (2023) is in six movements, scored for soprano and piano.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928572 Composed by Beethoven's Wig, Richard Perlmutter. Children,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 65 pages. Beethoven's Wig, Inc. #6384013. Published by Beethoven's Wig, Inc. (A0.928572). Inspired and wildly imaginative, Beethoven's Wig Sing Along Piano Classics are zany, stick-in-your-head lyrics set to masterpieces by great composers. The lyrics are filled with fact and fancy about the composers and their music opening a door to serious music that's fun. It’s fun to play and sing along!  The music for each piano piece is presented as it was originally written by the composer.  As a bonus, there is an appendix with pieces transposed into the keys used on Beethoven’s Wig recordings. This allows pianists to play and sing along with the recorded tracks.GREAT FOR PIANO STUDENTS AND TEACHERSPiano teachers often tell their students they should sing the instrumental pieces they play to improve their performance. This helps students to interpret pieces lyrically. The witty and delightful lyrics in this collection are an entertaining means to that end. They are great to sing along with when playing, and are educational and fun!PRAISE FOR BEETHOVEN'S WIGClassical music was never supposed to be this much fun. Was it?- Baltimore Sun Instrumental music tends not to charm children...and a classical piece like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Not a good bet. But what if that work had words?  - New York TimesThe songs are funny... The lyrics are hummable mnemonics, each imparting information about the work or the composer.- Washington PostAn irreverent, witty approach to music appreciation... a laugh out loud that pretty much guarantees listeners will forevermore recognize the classics.-Los Angeles TimesABOUT BEETHOVEN'S WIGBeethoven's Wig is the creation of Richard Perlmutter, who is the lyricist, lead singer and producer of the group's five albums. Beethoven's Wig has toured North America and performed at arts centers and with symphony orchestras. The group's recordings have won 50 awards including including four GRAMMY Nominations. They have also won Parent's Choice Awards, Teacher's Choice Awards and been designated as Notable Recordings by the American Library Association. CONTENTS - MUSIC IN THE COMPOSER’S ORIGINAL KEYSBeep, Beep, Beep (Moonlight Sonata, Beethoven), Just For Elise (Für Elise, Beethoven), La De Da Sonata  (Sonata in C, Mozart), A Piano Is Stuck In The Door (The Entertainer, Joplin), My Little Chicken (Chopsticks, de Lulli), Poor Uncle Joe (Funeral March, Chopin), A Fan of Chopin (Prelude Op. 28, No 7, Chopin), Mozart Makes Kids Smart (Alla Turca, Mozart), Minuet For My Pet (Minuet In G, Beethoven), Dvorak The Czechoslovak (Humoresque No. 7, Dvorak), Franz Liszt The Famous Pianist (Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Liszt), I Can’t Sleep (Lullaby, Brahms), I Like Art (Promenade From Pictures At An Exhibition, Mussorgsky)APPENDIX - MUSIC IN THE KEYS ON BEETHOVEN’S WIG RECORDINGSJust For Elise - Key of Eb Minor (Für Elise, Beethoven), A Piano Is Stuck In The Door - Key of G (The Entertainer, Joplin), Minuet For My Pet - Key of D (Minuet In G, Beethoven), Dvorak The Czechoslovak - Key of Bb (Humoresque No. 7, Dvorak, Franz Liszt The Famous Pianist - Key of F (Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Liszt)

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126313 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #727017. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1126313). A new Christmas carol by Philip Le Bas for unison voices (with occasional divisi) and piano, setting the words of William Blake's poem A Cradle Song from his collection entitled Songs of Innocence. The very title of Blake's poem calls out for it to be set to music. Indeed the poem is a straightforward lullaby for the first few stanzas, sung softly by a mother over her sleeping baby, as she marvels at the wonder of this beautiful infant and expresses her love for the child. Her own anxieties and weeping for the child remind her of the Christ-child who also wept as a vulnerable baby. But as God incarnate he wept for me, for thee, for all, and brought peace to heaven and earth. (Blake uses the word beguile perhaps to indicate the paradoxical nature of a weeping God bringing redemption to a suffering world by becoming a vulnerable human baby himself.) The composition aims to avoid unnecessary complexity in the vocal parts, so that it can be sung easily particularly by a parish choir. However, it also attempts to capture some of the beauty, drama and mystery of the scene expressed by Blake. The piece begins and ends in stillness, and there are gentle climaxes here and there, reflecting some of the rise and fall of the poem's lyrics. It could be sung by a mixed or single-voice choir, but note should always be taken of the predominantly quiet dynamics of the piece, especially in the first half. https://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-US/se/ID_No/1216185/Product.aspx https://plbmusic.blogspot.com A Cradle Song from Songs of Innocence by William Blake (1757-1827) Sweet dreams, form a shade O'er my lovely infant's head! Sweet dreams of pleasant streams By happy, silent, moony beams! Sweet Sleep, with soft down Weave thy brows an infant crown! Sweet Sleep, angel mild, Hover o'er my happy child! Sweet smiles, in the night Hover over my delight! Sweet smiles, mother's smiles, All the livelong night beguiles. Sweet moans, dovelike sighs, Chase not slumber from thy eyes! Sweet moans, sweeter smiles, All the dovelike moans beguiles. Sleep, sleep, happy child! All creation slept and smiled. Sleep, sleep, happy sleep, While o'er thee thy mother weep. Sweet babe, in thy face Holy image I can trace; Sweet babe, once like thee Thy Maker lay, and wept for me: Wept for me, for thee, for all, When He was an infant small. Thou His image ever see, Heavenly face that smiles on thee! Smiles on thee, on me, on all, Who became an infant small; Infant smiles are His own smiles; Heaven and earth to peace beguiles.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.997617 By Lynne Cox. By Lynne Cox. Children,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #603265. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.997617). 'Cruising Down the Nile' is an easy intermediate piano solo w/lyrics. Explores the lovely exotic sound of Mid-eastern music. Lyrics depict Ancient Egypt and scenes along the Nile. Uses broken 5ths in LH accompaniment with syncopation to depict the plodding of camels through the desert, while melodically the RH plays along the upper tetrachord (last 4 notes) of G harmonic minor scale. I included a mordant and turn to mimic the shake of the tambourine used in Ancient Egyptian music. I chose the title because of a song I dearly loved to sing as a child, 'Cruising Down the River', by Beadell and Tollerton. Animals from this region such as hippos and crocodiles are the guides from Noahs Ark. My 'Noah's Ark Series' was created to introduce piano students to different musical styles and to global music. For the student what more fun guides could there be besides animals? Different animals in various locales introduce the student to numerous styles-in this piece, the lovely exotic Mid-eastern music with camels, crocodiles, and hippos in the lyrics being the guides. Try other pieces with lyrics in this series: 'Koala Lullaby' (lullaby); 'Iguana' (tango) 'Sam the Lamb' (Celtic/Strophic); and 'Joey the Wallabee Kangarro' (waltz). This series makes a great recital theme and is contest material.

COLOURS – a song collection for mezzo-soprano & pianoLargely untrained, only basically educated and living most his life as a rural worker, Neilson became known as one of Australia's finest lyric poets, who wrote much about the natural world, and the beauty in it.  His poetry is peppered with references to colours particularly of the Australian landscape, notably green, yellow and orange.  There is an art gallery named for him and an art prize in his name requires competing artists to interpret his poems in paint.. His lyricism has appealed to many composers, and in this collection setting six of his poems, I have attempted to capture both his lyricism and his “colouringsâ€. The songs are dedicated variously to the superb mezzo-sopranos, Alessandra Volpe and Deborah Humble. The six song I have set for this Volume 1 are:1.      Paint Me A Petticoat Green2.      Roses Three3.      To Dulcie in a White Dress4.      You and Yellow Air5.      The Orange Tree6.      Song in the Yellow.
