Composed by Arthur Le Clerq. Arranged by Kim Kirkman. Broadway,Contemporary,Musical/Show,Traditional. Score. 4 pages. Kim Kirkman #6697499. Published by Kim Kirkman (A0.779670).

This is a wonderful old comedy song.
I have put it into the key that Tessie O'Shea sings it (Ab major)
I have put in the first verse that Tessie sings, plus the spoken part. I have changed some of the words of the spoken part to update them.
I have then constructed a third verse from other verses that Le Clerq wrote. To sing it exactly like Tessie please repeat first verse.

Words:
Verse:
For years a fairy queen I've bin', For years I foiled the demon king.
But alas, I'm getting on, The years have flown somehow,
And I feel that Fairy Snowdrop isn't wanted now.

Chorus One:
Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.
Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.
She may still have her magic power, But that is not enough,
They like their bit of magic from a younger bit of fluff.
When once your silver star has lost its glitter,
And your tinsel looks like rust instead of gold.
Your fairy days are ending when your wand has started bending.
Noone loves a fairy when she's old.

Spoken:
T'was I who found the magic wand, I will not tell you where.
T'was I who found young Tinkerbell, her head was full of air
I’ve been a fairy of the flowers, and fairy daffodils,
I’ve been a fairy of the wind, and suffer from it still!
In certain covered valley hills I go down to the glen
Been loved by all the children and run after by the men. Huh!
Noone could touch me at me splits, me splits were all the rage,
Until the night woodman left his chopper on the stage, what a mess!

Verse 2:
Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.
Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.
As far as I can see they try to push you off the map,
When once your wand has withered and your wings refuse to flap.
When you have lost your little fairy dimples,
And the mothholes in your dress let in the cold,
It seems that they would sooner listen to a blinkin' crooner,
Noone loves a fai-y when she's old!

By Raluca Bojor. By William Cowper and Raluca Bojor. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 1 pages. Raluca Bojor #949945. Published by Raluca Bojor (A0.1365606).

A new tune to an old text! In writing this melody, I was captivated by the somber tone of William Cowper’s words and his blunt (but correct) perspective of our reality. Although the text is 250 years old, it remains relevant today. We will never comprehend God’s intentions; his ways are mysterious to the limited human mind. But we remain faithful because “behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face.â€

This new melody is in the key of D minor natural, reflecting the message of Cowper’s poem. Additionally, I repeated some of the lines from the poem’s original structure in order to allow listeners more time to ponder over the meaning of these words. LISTEN to the full recording below!

HERE’S TO THE PEOPLE (Piano/Vocal) by
ROBERT VAN HORNE

Duration: 3:15

Inspired by TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL and their vision of helping people achieve their full potential and realize their dreams, I composed this song HERE’S TO THE PEOPLE in 2009.

As a dedicated member of Toastmasters for over 17 years, I believe that effective communication is essential for success. Through this music, I have found another powerful way to connect and inspire others.

My original intention for composing this song was to give back to all the men and women in Toastmasters who have helped me achieve a new image of myself; an image of self-confidence, leadership and self-expression .

This song is dedicated to all the men and women who have been influenced by Toastmasters, as well as those who will be in the future.

The Piano/Vocal Sheet Music of HERE’S TO THE PEOPLE features a clearly published piano accompaniment and a vocal part with chord identifications. The score provides singers and pianists with a comprehensive guidance for an expressive and delightful performance that can be presented at Toastmaster meetings, contests and events.

The original key is E Flat Major modulating to E Major for the last chorus. The mp3 example is performed and sung by Robert in the key of C Major modulating to D Flat Major.

Here is the First Original Video of Robert playing and singing HERE’S TO THE PEOPLE.

Composed by Rudesindo Soutelo. Arranged by Soprano or Tenor & Piano. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 20 pages. Publisher by Rudesindo Soutelo #869968. Published by Publisher by Rudesindo Soutelo (A0.1278266).

À memoria da actriz Cruz Comesanha

Lábios de sabor a mar (Derradeira epístola) / Sea flavour lips (Last epistle) for Soprano/Tenor and Piano [ca. 7' 34]

The origin of this work is the emotional emptiness I felt when I received the news of the death of a close friend in an unfortunate accident at home. The text was constructed with ideas and phrases taken from the poetic correspondence we had exchanged in the previous months. A few years later, I plucked up the courage to write the music, firstly for Choir a Cappella or with Piano ad libitum, followed by a version for Brass Quintet and another for Soprano or Tenor and Piano. This new edition for Voice has been revised in its entirety.
The English translation of the text at the end of the score is not intended to be sung. It is only inserted to help singers who do not understand Portuguese to comprehend the message.
The complexes that organise the harmonic and melodic structure are [6, 2, 5, 1, 3], [10, 9, 2, 8] and [4, 8, 9, 7].

--oOo--

THE GRANDPARENT'S DAY SONG

PIANO / VOCAL

Popular Song

Words & Music by ROBERT VAN HORNE

4 Pages

It was September 5, 2014 at my First Friday Piano Concert at the Atrium in San Jose, CA that I premiered THE GRANDPARENT'S DAY SONG.

Many of the Atrium residents, as well as many of us, are unaware that the second Sunday in September is NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY.

Since there are only a handful of songs dedicated to grandparents, I decided to write and dedicate this special piece of music to grandparents all over the world.

My inspiration for the music and words came to me from my many years of performing for the wonderful residents at the Atrium (Brookdale San Jose).

This is a popular song for grandkids, parents and singers who want to honor their grandparents, giving them special acknowledgement with gratitude and love.

A Youtube video of Robert's recording of this piece is available at: http://youtu.be/dRkVdv55Zao

Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Jazz,Opera,World. Score. 10 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #4729017. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942058).

This witty and extremely fun work to perform by composer Apostolos Paraskevas was conceived after real events. There is a version for Soprano/tenor and Piano and one for guitar as well. Easy to perform and the text was inspired of the following narrative.

I Slaughtered an Orange over the Sink...

...and it just sat there…It didn't say a word, not a sound of anguish, not even when my teeth started to tear apart it's flesh little by little... I knew it was a special orange but I couldn't fathom the magnitude of its character…Even when gentle I took it away from its friends there at the top of the kitchen counter, it looked at me almost with a sense of gratitude. Yes, gratitude.! As if it was saying: Thank you! Thank you for helping me to fulfill the purpose of my life…Since I was a little seed I knew I would serve a higher purpose. My sacrifice will help a human to become a healthier mother, doctor, composer, a better scientist.

Yes, I think I felt it said…a better composer as well.

...and there I was, sinking my teeth deep inside its flesh and taking all of what it had to offer. It's life, it's substance, it's gratitude for serving a higher purpose.

I slaughtered it over the sink, to avoid any evidence of what had happen there. The remaining outer sell, I placed it on the stove top and lighted up with fire, as my mother use to do, to release the heavenly smell and there it was. Evaporated everywhere! I inhale it, It became totally a part of me.

Today, I slaughtered an orange over the sink and I didn’t say thank you!

Apostolos Paraskevas is a classical guitarist and composer as well as an award-winning film director and producer. He has received multiple international awards for his compositions and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is the only guitarist ever to have a major orchestral piece performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Lukas Foss––and the only musician who has performed there in a Grim Reaper outfit. He was the founder and served for 16 years as the artistic director of the International Guitar Congress-Festival of Corfu, Greece.  He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys).

After his undergraduate music studies in Volos he pursued advanced studies in classical guitar with Costas Cotsiolis (diploma, 1990) and Leo Brouwer (Havana 1984, 1988), as well as postgraduate studies in composition with Lukas Foss and Theodore Antoniou (DMA in composition, Boston University, 1998). Paraskevas embarked on a successful career as a guitar soloist and contemporary composer, achieving distinctions in both disciplines: Grammy nomination for Chase Dance (Bridge Records, 1999); first prize for Night Wanderings (Lukas Foss Composition Competition, 2000); first prize for Phygein Adynaton (National Composers Conference, 1997); and numerous prestigious commissions, performances, and publications. Following teaching posts at Northeastern and Boston Universities, Paraskevas has taught since 2001 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (professor of composition and classical guitar).

His eclectic compositional style arises as an idiosyncratic integration of seemingly conflicting influences – from avant-garde approaches to harmonic structure, form, and timbre, to pop-folk modal and rhythmical concepts – amalgamated into a personal evocative musical language, characterized by rhythmic verve, melodic grace, dramatic (and sometimes unexpectedly humorous) gestures, and ritualistic or theatrical elements. The latter feature has also led Paraskevas to the creation of films, notably the acclaimed I Finally Did It (Gold award, California Film Awards 2010), dealing wittily with Death, a recurring extra-musical theme in his music.

Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. Children,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Kevin G. Pace #954376. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1370002).

A children's song, telling the story of the sons of Mosiah from the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Kathryn W. Hales.

Text:
The Lord told King Mosiah to let his sons go away,
To the land of Nephi where for many years they'd stay.
They wanted to preach the gospel in the Lord's ministry,
To the sinful, wicked Lamanites who were their enemies.

Now one of the sons was Ammon who had been a rebellious youth,
But after Alma's change of heart, he wanted to know the truth.
He became Lamoni's servant, watching over the king's sheep,
He beat some robbers who came to steal, leaving a pile of arms at his feet.

Then he taught King Lamoni the true source of his strength and might,
That the king should change his ways, repent and do what's right.
Lamoni believed what Ammon taught and all his people too,
They became so very righteous because God's promises are true.

Aaron was another son of Nephite King Mosiah,
He taught of the Creation, of the Fall and God's Son who would die
To save all men from death and sin, yea, Jesus, the Holy One,
Who would come to earth at some future day to save each and ev'ry one.

Omni and his brother Himnor were also Mosiah's sons,
But not much is recorded about their missions.
But they were faithful servants during all their trial filled days,
They taught many people how to walk in God's own chosen way.

Chorus:
I want to be like Mosiah's sons and share God's holy word.
I can be a missionary, a servant of the Lord.
I can be so very courageous, I can the gospel teach,
That all may know God's holy grace is within their loving reach.
