This piece is based on text that I wrote several years ago. As a lover of the horror genre I have always had a fascination with the romantic creature known in modern culture as the vampire. I imagined in my mind the interaction between a mortal and an immortal creature. How would the mortal describe a romantic encounter with this creature that exists in the shadows, untouched by time? I used descriptive text to communicate the visceral details of this experience and make the listener create in their mind how the experience would have felt if they had experienced it. The encounter is intense, and painful but once it ends the narrator feels empty and only has a mysterious melody to keep as a memory. I set the text for treble voices because I felt that the close harmonies I could accomplish with voices in the same register would lend itself well to the imagery. The piece is lush and smooth when the text demands it and sharp and angular when the text calls for that sound. Once the interaction is over, the voices break off into an aleatoric section in which each voice sings the phrase Songs only bones can hear fading away into nothingness just as the text suggests the vampire moves into the velvet void.

My community chorus memorizes, so I write with repetition and consistency! Our chorus found this exciting and inspirational to sing.  This piece was also chosen to be performed as a mass chorus piece for the national Sister Singers Network Festival 2023 in Cleveland.

I wrote the work entitled Pie Jesu after attending an essay by the vocal ensemble Enchiriadis to which I had been invited. Listening to these women made such an impression on me that I abandoned that essay for the firm purpose of writing a work for their voices.

I chose this text of the Mass of Requiem because of its simplicity not devoid of innocence and considered it suitable for the technical and expressive goodness of this formation. In this way I created this Pie Jesu in which the serene character of homophonies that progress as melodies demanding from the whole a perfect tuning and timbre homogeneity in all registers, without neglecting a subtle dynamic and expressive nuance.

For the management of copyright the work is registered with the SGAE (Copyright Management Society of Spain) The score contains the data of the work and the composer for the management of Rights.

A easy women's arrangement of the Swedish pop song from 2023 often played on the Swedish radio. The arrangement use barbershop voicing with the lead singing the melody in the verse and the baritone in the chorus. I have also added som loud breathing, because that's what the title means in Swedish, i.e. 'Breathe in breathe out'.

Note: This sheet music is notated in barbershop format: Tenor (S.1) and Lead (S.2) in treble clef , Baritone (A.1) and Bass (A.2) in bass clef. The bass clef parts are sung an octave higher than written.

This is a treble choir arrangement of the traditional round Grasshoppers Three. It's a fun sing with an optional solo part and sand block. The singers make grasshopper noises, and it's a fun addition to a spring choral concert. Grasshoppers based on the vocal improv workshops I've attended with Bobby McFerrin. Even though it's SSAA + solo, it's an easy learn because it's based on stacking chords and a round. It's been beautifully performed by The Piedmont East Bay Children's Chorus (Training Group), Beverly Vista Middle School Choir (Beverly Hills), and Solstice Female Vocal Ensemble. Commissioned by Inversion Ensemble for Da Capo’s January 2023 Origins concert, Julian’s Hazelnut (2022) by Adrienne Inglis sets text by Julian of Norwich for treble voices and B flat clarinet. Born in about 1343 in Norwich, England, Julian survived the Black Plague as a girl of six. She became an anchoress at St. Julian’s Church in Norwich where she lived in prayerful seclusion. In 1373, she became very sick at age 30. Near the point of death, a curate showed her a crucifix for comfort. She then experienced a series of intense visions of Christ and recovered from her illness to write eloquently about her “shewings.� The beautiful Medieval English text for this piece is from The Shewings of Julian of Norwich, Part I lines 148-154 in which Julian reflects on the vision she experienced about a hazelnut in the palm of her hand. She comes to understand that God loves even a small, ordinary thing like a hazelnut, such that it will not disintegrate but last forever because of God’s love for it. In Julian’s vision, the hazelnut symbolizes all that is made — all of Creation that God made and loves forever. The music combines Medieval sounds and counterpoint with lush, modern harmonies, woven together with the smooth color and elegant lines of the clarinet. Singers use Original Pronunciation to capture the lyricism of Julian’s words. May this piece inspire the same awe and amazement at God’s beloved Creation that Julian felt centuries ago.
