If one keeps the title Angels, the surprise ending will be kept to the end. Lovely harmonies and emotions, with the climax at m 52 followed by the surprise ending.Milk this little song for all it's worth. My heart swells just for going through it in my head!! Feedback would be appreciated.   After thinking about ANGELS, I HAVE TO TELL YOU the most important line in the song. After the Daddy tells the child what angels are, he says, They call them angels in Heaven (beautiful spot in the son), but we call them MOTHERS down here. Such a tear-jerker, I think!!

Inspired by the 1,116 orphaned Polish children who, as Holocaust survivors, were brought to Canada after World War II  and became known as The Redeemed Children. These tunes, and others like them, were the only possessions they had  and their only direct connection to the past.  I received a copy of a book of tunes (unarranged) while speaking at a conference; an elderly gentlemen came up to me, pressed them into my hands and asked me to help keep them alive. The work features two tunes, both on the theme of motherhood.  The first tune describes a young mother shushing everything around her so that her little son can sleep.  The second tune rejoices when the poor are raised up and a barren woman's house is filled with the laughter of children.To honour the integrity of the tunes, this work features idiomatic writing and harmonies and captures not only the rhythm but also the intended mood and sentiment.  Brief solo opportunities feature a soprano and alto in a traditional 'cantor' style section.  Shifting from sweet and gentle to driving and energetic, this is an excellent work to build musical expression, story telling and deep empathy.Suitable for all intermediate level treble choirs for any recital, concert or festival occasion.Duration:  4:05                                                                                                                                                                         Key Structure:  Eflat major and C minor                                                                                                                             Level:  intermediate                                                                                                                                                       Language: Yiddish and Hebrew (translations and pronunciation guide provided)composer contact:  www.stellaterhart.com

This ritual and the words spoken seem a powerful balm in the face of grief and sadness. The text reflects the mother’s tenderness to the child - sorrowful but loving and beautiful. I found the poem in a collection of “Poems About Trees,� celebrating sacred groves, wild woodlands, and bountiful orchards, paying lyrical tribute to these majestic beings with whom we share the earth.Composed for women’s voices, the flute and bassoon add a doleful fullness to this piece. Following its release, the song became an instant hit with music fans in North America.In September 2018, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli released a classically flavoured English/Italian version of the song recorded with his son Matteo. Matteo wrote the Italian and additional English lyrics for this recording, in collaboration with Fortunato Zampaglione. This version of the song features in the end credits of the Disney film, The Nutcracker and The Four Realms.In 2019 A Great Big World recorded their own version of Fall on Me in collaboration with American singer/songwriter Christina Aguilera. The song is the duo's second collaboration with Aguilera, following the single Say Something, which peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 in 2013.Fall on Me (the original version) is a beautifully poignant song that seemingly beckons for the divine influence of a higher spiritual power in the search for love. The Bocelli version incorporates an additional sentiment - the bond between parent and child. Andrea Bocelli said of this version, Anyone who is a parent, anyone who knows the precious responsibility of being a mother or a father, will fully grasp the meaning of this piece. It is his first duet with his son Matteo.This arrangement, for SSAA choir with piano accompaniment, is based on the Andrea and Matteo Bocelli version. It may be sung entirely in English or in a combination of English and Italian.It is also available, separately, for SATB and 2-Part choirs.
