Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1220892 Composed by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman, and Michel Legrand. Arranged by Jenny Mills. 20th Century,A Cappella,Barbershop,Jazz,Standards. Octavo. 4 pages. LABBS - Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers #817229. Published by LABBS - Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (A0.1220892). This arrangement of this beautiful jazz ballad was commissioned from the late Jenny Mills by a LABBS barbershop chorus, inspired specifically by the recording by Clare Teal.Previously licensed for that chorus only, Jen's partner has now donated this arrangement to LABBS for publication on SMP, so that more SSAA a cappella groups can experience singing this beautiful ballad arranged in super-close harmony, with a beautiful romantic message suitable for shows, weddings, engagements and any time. This arrangement is NOT suitable for barbershop contests, due to many of the chords used having gorgeously evocative semitone intervals within them, which is considered too dissonant for the style.  They are nevertheless extremely appropriate and laden with emotion for a show performance, by a group who can handle the tuning of these unusual (to barbershop) chords. To hear the version by Clare Teal that inspired this arrangement, search on YouTube for her recording from her album Don't Talk. A sample recording of the arrangement being sung by the commissioning chorus will follow soon.

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1116804 By The Who. By Pete Townshend. Arranged by David R. Peoples. Classical,Contemporary,Pop,Rock. Octavo. 12 pages. Bluesilhouettes Music #718460. Published by Bluesilhouettes Music (A0.1116804). I’ve always been interested in Baba O’Riley; it always felt like a combination of Disney’s Electric Light Parade, minimalism, and rock. Take what you want (as to the story) behind this piece - you cannot deny that the title refers to Maher Baba and Terry O’Riley - a combination of Indian spiritualism and musical minimalism. The main melody is there. The voices bounce around with short vocalises/ostinatos to simulate a synth. The piano also becomes integral to the iconic chord progression. This version helps to use what the choir is excellent for - dynamic and textural contrasts while delivering a familiar tune. Enjoy this interactive rendition of Baba O'Riley!

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.856142 Composed by Joe McCarthy, James Monaco. Arranged by Liz Garnett. A Cappella. Octavo. 4 pages. Liz Garnett #3023075. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.856142). Written just before the First World War, this flirtatious song anticipates that world where women were finding a new independence and power, and trying to work out what to do with it. On the one hand, the singer doesn’t want to be unfeminine by making the first move, on the other, she’s going to make a bid for what she wants. Go girl, is what I say. This arrangement is suitable for performance in a barbershop contest, and the Southern Comfort Barber Gals won a bronze medal in the Holland Harmony 2009 chorus contest with this it. It is notated in the traditional clefs for women's barbershop: treble and bass alta (i.e. sung an octave higher than written)Ranges:Tenor: F4 - E5Lead: A flat 3 - C#5Bari: B flat 3 - B4Bass: E flat 3 - F#4www.HelpingYouHarmonise.com

Choral Choir,Choral (SSAA) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1267123 By Meat Loaf. By Jim Steinman. Arranged by Michael Thomas Coull. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Standards. 18 pages. MTC Publishing #859757. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1267123). You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth - Choral Arrangement for SSAA and Piano by Michael Thomas Coull. You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (also known as You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)) is the first solo single by the American singer Meat Loaf, released in 1977.  It is a track from his album Bat Out of Hell, written by Jim Steinman. According to his autobiography, Meat Loaf asked Jim Steinman to write a song that was not 15 or 20 minutes long, and, in Meat Loaf’s words, a ‘pop song’.  His autobiography also dates the writing of the song to 1975, the song reportedly being a key factor in Meat Loaf and Steinman deciding to do an album together.  The song was the first single released from the album, with an edit of For Crying Out Loud as the B-side.  The record peaked at No. 73 in the Record World singles chart, and didn't appear at all in Billboard Hot 100.  Billboard reviewed the single, finding the guitar introduction to be energetic, the beat to be ‘catchy’ and the vocal performance to be somewhat similar to Bruce Springsteen.  Billboard also commented on how occasional pauses in the instruments allow the ‘infectious’ vocals to be highlighted.   Following the success of the next two singles, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, the song was re-released in October 1978 with Paradise as the B-side.  This issue peaked at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, over a year after the first release of the song. This exciting and energetic choral arrangement is voiced for SSAA women's choir with piano accompaniment, and will lend a touch of contemporary pop/rock to your next concert. Also available for SATB.

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.856240 By Frank Sinatra. By Joe Raposo. Arranged by Liz Garnett. Contemporary. Octavo. 5 pages. Liz Garnett #5296359. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.856240). From the first series of Sesame Street, this is a deligthfully philosophical song, originally sung by Kermit (indeed, this was Kermit before he really became famous), and covered by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles. It covers a major emotional journey from frustration to acceptance in a gentle, thoughtful trajectory. What I find interesting is that by the end of the song, being green has become a wonderful way to be - but it hasn't necessarily become easy. But then, maybe it's better to have a worthwhile way to be than an easy life.N.B.
