Tenor Saxophone Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.493637 By Pat Thomas. By Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonca. Arranged by Leo Silva. Jazz. Individual part. 1 pages. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.493637). Samba de Uma Nota Só is a song with music by Tom Jobim and lyrics by Newton Mendonça. The English lyrics, One Note Samba, were written by Jobim. Its title refers to the main line of the melody, which first consists of a long series of notes played in the same key, in the rhythm of bossa nova (usually D, played in key of G). The first eight bars consist of D, followed by four bars of G, and finally four bars of D. Then there are four bars of more varied melody. The song became well known after reaching a wide audience through the 1962 Grammy-winning bossa nova album Jazz Samba (Getz / Byrd / Jobim), which reached number one on the Billboard 200 in 1963.
