SSA choir (a cappella) - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.50-3150-E Composed by Paul M. French. Ash Wednesday, Lent. Instrument parts. 6 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #50-3150-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.50-3150-E). A tenth-century text for Ash Wednesday and Lent, composed for treble voices. The unison, chant-like opening unfolds into three-part harmony, and the harmonic movement, at first simple and transparent, becomes more involved and expressive, reaching into a higher register for all three parts. The final Amen brings this Lenten prayer to a quiet conclusion. In Latin with singing English translation.

Choral Choir (3-Part) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844645 Composed by Phil Beaman. Folk,Jazz,Spiritual. Octavo. 13 pages. Phil Beaman #4719605. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844645). This piece is a Showstopper! Rock-a-My-Soul is a Choral piece based on the traditional folk/gospel/spiritual. I originally envisioned this piece for a Middle School Choir, but it works well with any group that wants to have fun. It is written in 3 part Treble clef which the conductor may assign as they see fit for their choir and performance. (Part 3 works very well with male voices.) Parts all stay within an octave from Middle C to C above.  This lively version uses many styles of jazz to drive this piece, yet there is also a recurring descending third ostinato which is the rocking comfort this piece imparts.   The piano part plays an important role in driving this piece and setting the moods. Each of the seven sections shifts the mood and jazz style but maintains a level of energy.  After completing the jazz arrangements of the traditional chorus I tried various ways to extend the piece. One day while working on this piece I saw a news clip about another school bullying incident. I immediately made the connection -- at its heart Rock-a-My-Soul is really about overcoming obstacles to find comfort and acceptance. So I wrote some additional lyrics to create an anti-bullying, anti-depression section. I have soloists deliver the main lines to make it personal and invitational then the choir backs them up, call and response style, with Everything's gonna be alright.  Lyrics throughout are all carefully worded so that the song may be used for either secular or sacred purposes. The context and location where it is sung will flesh out the implied and intended meaning. If sung in school it means you have friends here who accept you; if sung in your place of worship then it means that your God accepts you.Simple power, beauty and meaning all wrapped in joyous jazz!13 page score, 4:00 minute performancerecording is various excerpts of the accompaniment to show different stylistic sections

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1397950 Composed by John Ross. Christian,Religious,Sacred. 6 pages. John Ross #981223. Published by John Ross (A0.1397950). When Richard of Chichester (1197-1253) was elected bishop in 1244 King Henry III refused to accept the appointment, favouring another candidate. The king even forbade anyone to house or feed Richard. However, Pope Innocent IV confirmed the appointment, and Richard became Bishop of Chichester in 1245. He was keen to restore order and reverence in the church and was known as an ascetic, displaying frugality and temperance throughout his life. On his deathbed he is said to have recited the prayer for which he is now very well known, Thanks be to Thee, my Lord Jesus Christ. These words became famous after their use in the song Day by day from Stephen Schwartz's musical Godspell (1971).

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1359631 Composed by Albert E. Brumley. Arranged by Tom Rodgers. 20th Century,Film/TV,Praise & Worship,Religious. 7 pages. Tom Rodgers #944100. Published by Tom Rodgers (A0.1359631). Albert E Brumley wrote this hymn in 1929 and it was published in 1932. It is has been called the “most recorded gospel song†and is frequently used worship services by the Baptists, Pentecostals, Nazarenes and many Methodists.  It is often used in funeral services as it is categorised by many as covering the topics of eternal life, heaven and acceptance. It has been used in television and film scores, including a couple of episodes of “The Waltonsâ€, the 2008 film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttonâ€; it is probably most well-known for its inclusion in the 2000 film, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?â€.  This arrangement is for SAB - early intermediate level - and designed to find the joy behind the meaning of the words.  This would work well for a non-themed concert but also for one that has an air of remembrance about it.The recording is by the Hornchurch Can't Sing Choir, performing it with a band in front of an audience of about 200 in 2023.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818191 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Philip Le Bas #6603399. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818191). A new composition setting the words of Psalm 133 for three-part (SABar) choir and piano. This cheerful, perhaps even rather idealistic psalm expressing the joy of kindred dwelling in unity has long been used to give voice to a human longing for acceptance by others, whether in a family or a community. Its verses compare this familial unity to the tradition of pouring expensive ointment over the head of visitors. Far from our modern use of oil for lubrication, this is an ancient middle-eastern oil of welcome and washing and feeling part of a community. Dwelling in unity is also compared to cloudy mist which regularly descends on the heights of Mount Hermon in Zion, providing moisture to an otherwise arid land and enabling life across the whole country. This setting is unashamedly playful, popular and romantic, with verses adding a more mysterious, metaphorical quality to the piece, and bringing to expression the deep joy of living in harmony with others..., even if finding this is not always easy. The composition is ideal for use by a parish choir, employing relatively easy part singing with a supportive piano part.Psalm 133: Ecce quam bonum et quam iucundum, habitare fratres in unum. Behold, how good it is, how pleasant, for kindred to dwell in unity. It is like precious ointment upon the beard, running down upon the beard of Aaron; like the dew of Hermon, which falls upon the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing: life for evermore.
