Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1113190 By Traditional French. By Sylvia Miles. Arranged by Sylvia Miles. Christmas,Early Music,Folk,Praise & Worship,Traditional. Octavo. 5 pages. Sylvia Miles #715143. Published by Sylvia Miles (A0.1113190). The tune of this Provençal carol has been known since the 14th century; originally it was a lively dance. It was first published as a carol in France in 1553. The words were written by Emile Blémont, based on a much earlier folk text: it tells the story of two milkmaids, Jeannette and Isabelle, who go to milk their cows in a cowshed near Bethlehem. When they get there, they find Jesus asleep in the hay ... and you know the rest of the story. To this day, children in the Provence region dress up as shepherds and milkmaids, and carry torches to Midnight Mass while singing the carol. Here, I've put verse 1 in French with (underneath) a translation crib, and verse 2 and 3 in English. Contact me if you want all the verses in French!

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1288053 By Benoît Barrail. By King Henry VIII. Arranged by Benoit BARRAIL. A Cappella,Celtic,Classical,Early Music,Irish,Medieval. 7 pages. Benoît Barrail #879095. Published by Benoît Barrail (A0.1288053). Greensleeves is a love song attributed to King Henry VIII and first printed in 1580 in London. The king sings of his love for his second wife, Queen of England Anne Boleyn (Lady Greensleeves). Sadly, this love was not reciprocated. This song quickly became popular throughout England and has been constantly sung and covered since its release. This is a very nice arrangement for SSA choir and optional bass, as the choir can sing it a cappella.

Published by Teton Music (A0.887268). Lucious harmonies make this familiar, 15th century Christmas carol fresh again. The piece begins with percussive 'dings' and 'dongs' as they mimic the ringing of church bells. The remainder of the piece splits into four part women's harmony with flowing, moving lines in each vocal part. Excellent selection for church, school or professional ensembles. May be sung in English or French.Duration: 2 minutes, 45 secondsEnglish LyricsBring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella!Bring a torch, to Bethlehem come!Christ is born. Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1346346 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by D. Jason Bishop. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Wedding. 9 pages. Tully Road Music #931169. Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1346346). Robert Schumann’s song cycle Myrthen was a wedding present to his wife Clara Wieck. Myrthen, or “myrtles,†were the flowers traditionally associated with a marriage celebration. Schumann completed the Myrthen cycle in 1840, totaling 26 Lieder (songs for solo voice and piano), with texts by prominent 19th-century German poets such as Heinrich Heine, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and others. “Widmung,†which means “Dedication,†is the first song in the cycle, based on a love poem by Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866). The frequent repetition of the word “you†in the text, along with the soaring melody and undulating arpeggios that comprise the music, all serve to convey the composer’s state of blissful fulfillment as he contemplates marrying his beloved. This arrangement preserves Schumann’s original piano part as well as places the melody prominently in the top soprano voice. The lower voices provide supporting harmonies informed by the accompaniment, moving largely in parallel motion, but with their own counter-melodic value. It was premiered in 2013 by the University of Michigan Women’s Glee Club under the direction of conductor Jaclyn Johnson. The arrangement is also available in a version for TTB voices.
