Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1397950 Composed by John Ross. Christian,Religious,Sacred. 6 pages. John Ross #981223. Published by John Ross (A0.1397950). When Richard of Chichester (1197-1253) was elected bishop in 1244 King Henry III refused to accept the appointment, favouring another candidate. The king even forbade anyone to house or feed Richard. However, Pope Innocent IV confirmed the appointment, and Richard became Bishop of Chichester in 1245. He was keen to restore order and reverence in the church and was known as an ascetic, displaying frugality and temperance throughout his life. On his deathbed he is said to have recited the prayer for which he is now very well known, Thanks be to Thee, my Lord Jesus Christ. These words became famous after their use in the song Day by day from Stephen Schwartz's musical Godspell (1971).

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1348279 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by D. Jason Bishop. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period. 10 pages. Tully Road Music #933063. Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1348279). “Du bist die Ruh’†(D. 776; Op. 59, No. 3) is one of many Lieder for solo voice and piano written by Franz Schubert (1797-1828), with text by Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866). Although Rückert did not originally give the poem a title, Schubert titled his song after its first line, “Du bist die Ruh’,†and Rückert later titled his poem “Kehr ein bei mir,†or “Stay with me.†With a simple yet beautiful melody, sung with a seemingly uninterrupted legato, Schubert conveys the sense of “calm†and “peace†the poet feels in the companionship of his beloved. So many of the Lieder by 19th-century composers like Schubert and Schumann, chief proponents of the genre, lend themselves well to rearrangement for multiple voices. Here, D. Jason Bishop makes one of the most frequently performed German Lieder available to treble ensembles in an SSA arrangement that preserves both the melodic integrity of the song as well as its original piano accompaniment. It is also available in TTB.

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350298 Composed by Vincenzo Bellini. Arranged by D. Jason Bishop. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period. 10 pages. Tully Road Music #935087. Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1350298). The bel canto composer Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835) dedicated his arietta “Vaga luna, che inargenti†to Giluetta Pezzi, an Italian writer. The work is based on an anonymous text and was first published in 1838 by Casa Ricordi with two other songs by Bellini, “Il fervido desiderio†and “Dolente immagine di Fille mia.†Ricordi later included “Vaga luna†in a larger collection of Bellini’s songs published in 1935 to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the composer’s death. “Vaga luna†is a love poem in which the writer yearns to be reunited with his beloved. He repeatedly asks the moon, the “only witness to [his] ardent desire,†to “tell her†of the depth and sincerity of his feelings, and of his hopes that the future will bring them together. This arrangement preserves Bellini’s original piano part and places the melody prominently in the top soprano voice. The lower voices provide supporting harmonies informed by the accompaniment, moving largely in parallel motion, but with their own counter-melodic value. The arrangement is also available in a version for TTB voices.

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1107023 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #709859. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1107023). Bread of the World, Bread of Heaven combines texts on the eucharist, or holy communion, by the Anglican bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826) and the English Congregationalist author, editor, and hymn-writer Josiah Conder (1789-1855). The first stanza of Heber's Bread of the world in mercy broken focuses on the forgiveness of sin and sinners by Christ's grace as they gather at the Lord's table, while Conder's Bread of heav'n, on thee we feed emphasizes the restoration to health and wholeness of those who eat and drink of Christ's Body and Blood. Both texts refer to the sacramental bread and wine as the gifts by which our souls are fed. In this original setting for SAB choir and organ, Heber's text is set to a chant-like tune for unison SA voices in D minor, which transitions to a chorale-like setting of Conder's text for full SAB in D major. ©Copyright 2022 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1346346 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by D. Jason Bishop. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Wedding. 9 pages. Tully Road Music #931169. Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1346346). Robert Schumann’s song cycle Myrthen was a wedding present to his wife Clara Wieck. Myrthen, or “myrtles,†were the flowers traditionally associated with a marriage celebration. Schumann completed the Myrthen cycle in 1840, totaling 26 Lieder (songs for solo voice and piano), with texts by prominent 19th-century German poets such as Heinrich Heine, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and others. “Widmung,†which means “Dedication,†is the first song in the cycle, based on a love poem by Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866). The frequent repetition of the word “you†in the text, along with the soaring melody and undulating arpeggios that comprise the music, all serve to convey the composer’s state of blissful fulfillment as he contemplates marrying his beloved. This arrangement preserves Schumann’s original piano part as well as places the melody prominently in the top soprano voice. The lower voices provide supporting harmonies informed by the accompaniment, moving largely in parallel motion, but with their own counter-melodic value. It was premiered in 2013 by the University of Michigan Women’s Glee Club under the direction of conductor Jaclyn Johnson. The arrangement is also available in a version for TTB voices.

Choral Choir,Choral,SAB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1461383 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1040136. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1461383). “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling” are the opening words to a text written by the Welsh Anglican bishop Timothy Rees (1874-1939). Throughout, Rees employs the adverb “ever” to point to both the immanence and transcendence of the Holy Spirit in its timeless and perpetual activities:Holy Spirit, ever dwelling in the holiest realms of light,Holy Spirit, ever brooding o'er a world of gloom and night,Holy Spirit, ever raising those of earth to thrones on high, living, life-imparting Spirit, you we praise and magnify.Holy Spirit, ever living as the Church's very life,Holy Spirit, ever striving through us in a ceaseless strife,Holy Spirit, ever forming in the Church the mind of Christ, you we praise with endless worship for your gracious gifts unpriced.Holy Spirit, ever working through the Church's ministry, teaching, strength'ning, and absolving, setting captive sinners free,Holy Spirit, ever binding age to age and soul to soulin communion never ending, you we worship and extol.Mostly unison, with limited SAB voicing in verses 2 and 3, “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling” is quick to rehearse, easy to sing, and a meaningful declaration of praise to the third Person of the Holy Trinity.©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774719 Composed by Alfonso Maria de' Liguori. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Sandra Milliken #3676503. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774719). Tu scendi dalla stelle is amongst the oldest of Christmas songs in Italy. The original version was written in the mid-1700s in Naples by the Catholic Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti, Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori. At that time it was called Quanno nascette Ninno and was written in the Neapolitan dialect in the style of a pastorale. The song was later re-written in Italian by Pope Pius IX and thereafter it became famous as a Christmas carol all over the world.Originally containing seven verses, today’s performances of the carol in Italy generally include only the first two verses. Notable recordings and performances of the carol include those by Sergio Franchi, Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti. This arrangement features both Italian and English lyrics, with the English version being a very close adaptation of the original Italian. The carol may therefore be sung in either Italian or English, or a combination of both.Available in 2 Part and SSA, both with piano and optional descant/flute.Also available separately is an instrumental accompaniment for the SSA version, scored for String quintet and glockenspiel, with conductor's score.
