Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1120365 By Philip Le Bas. By J-B Lully / G Bizet. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #721616. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1120365). A new arrangement by Philip Le Bas of a thirteenth century French Christmas carol from Provence harmonized by Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-87, attrib.) and, more famously, by Georges Bizet (1838-75, in his L'Arlesienne Suite of 1872.) In France the melody is still tightly associated with Christmas, and French audiences start singing their own Christmas words whenever they hear the melody (the arranger has heard it himself!) The English translation used here is adapted from a variety of sources. The three kings (or more precisely the magi from St Matthew's gospel) are seen marching towards Bethlehem with their fantastic golden wealth and grandeur. But why are they going to see a low-born baby and why do they worship this child who will die on a cross? The organ sets the scene from the beginning with its marching accompaniment, and the first verse is sung in unison by all three parts. The second begins with a canon, as used by Bizet, and then breaks into harmony. The first section of the third verse is much quieter and legato, sung by the sopranos and altos, using wonderful chromatic harmonies based on another section from Bizet's suite. The lyrics express wonder at the beautiful music heard from the camp of the kings. The second section, sung in differentiated unison then begins to wonder why the kings stoop so low to a baby in a manger. Finally the fourth verse, sung in full harmony, returns to the marching accompaniment and reiterates the amazement of meeting these kings with their mysterious mission. The carol is aimed at parish choirs with limited resources, but a good organist. The melody is well-known, much of it is in unison, and other sections are relatively easy to sing. Care should however should be taken to sing the dotted rhythms accurately - this is what gives the carol its marching character.

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320399 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Traditional. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #908916. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1320399). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.  The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.  In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. The lyrics in this arrangement are the familiar ones written in the 1870s by Sir Harold Edwin Boulton. This is an easy SSA arrangement, with all vocal parts well within range and difficult leaps avoided. There are no divisi sections or solos, though can obviously create solos if you want. The keyboard part also avoids technical hurdles. Your singers will surely enjoy this joyful melody, with its contrasting verse and attractive counter-melodies. Vocal ranges are Soprano 1: D4 – D5; Soprano 2: D4 - D5; Alto: G3 - D5.

Composed by John Purifoy. Choral Cantatas. Christmas. 72 pages. Lorenz Publishing - Digital Sheet Music #e65/1945L. Published by Lorenz Publishing - Digital Sheet Music (LX.65-1945L). UPC: 000308064599.Seek, and you will find. It is one of best-known and oft-quoted scripture passages. In a broad sense, all Christians are seekers: seekers of Christ in all parts of our lives, much as those centuries ago, were seeking a Messiah to lead the faithful out of the darkness and into a promised land And it is from this interesting premise that the familiar Christmas is brought to life in text and music for us today much as it was for Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the angels years ago. Using some familiar carols as well as John Purifoy's well-known original melodic gifts, CHRISTMAS SEEKERS will not only enhance your celebration of Christmas, but engender the spirit of seeking Christ in all we are and in all we do. Performance time: approximately 35 minutes.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.707965 Composed by Austrian Carol. Arranged by Kristine Johanek. Christmas,Romantic Period. Octavo. 7 pages. Kristine Johanek #3859675. Published by Kristine Johanek (A0.707965). This Austrian Carol is written for  an SAB choir with an optional solo, and can also be used as a vocal trio. At two and a half minutes long, it is a fine piece for worship or concert settings. Harmonies are fairly easy to learn, and the antiphonal refrain is presented with melody taken in turn by treble and baritone voices. Its simplicity makes it an excellent choice for your young choir, or for a choir looking to add repertoire quickly. The piano accompaniment is moderately easy, and integral to the harmonies of the piece. The lyrics present the baby Jesus as the newborn king, with the shepherds, angels and Mary all playing their parts in the drama. An excellent choice of repertoire for a group wishing for a traditional sounding song that is still a bit different than the usual Christmas carol. (The current sound sample is the SA version of the piece.).

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.851260 Composed by Tim Attride. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Tim Attride #1916993. Published by Tim Attride (A0.851260). Two Epiphany anthems for the price of one.  Firstly, Arabia's Magi sought him is a setting of original English words by the composer which references the journey of the Magi, their gifts and the redemption of the world following a humble birth.  This three-part (S,A,Bar.) homophonic piece is only one page in length but, in its 45-second duration, sets the scene for the following Latin motet.  Ubi est qui natus est uses the words from Matthew 2,2 when the Magi ask after the new-born King of Judea.  Comprising three short contrapuntal sections, this section lasts about 1.15.  Either section (English or Latin) may be used independently or, as intended, with the English followed immediately by the Latin.Marked as Early Intermediate because there are a few intervals which may catch the unwary sight-reader.  However, with practice, this is certainly not difficult.  (And, yes, I know this is not actually a Christmas piece, but it may well be included in a service of Lessons & Carols - and there was no option for Epiphany.)N.B. The second & third pages are for reference; please print (& back) pages 1 & 3-5 for the complete work, or 3-5 to miss the title page.

Choral Choir (SSA) - Digital Download SKU: A0.916659 Composed by Airom Cruz Camua. Christian,Christmas,Gospel,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Airom Camua #4848837. Published by Airom Camua (A0.916659). This is a Tagalog Catholic Mass song specifically composed for the Christmas season. This is part of a 5-song composition project I did for the treble (SSA) chorus. Melody is notated and chords are written as well. On that first Christmas morn when He manifested Himself unto men, the great ones of the earth were unmindful; courts and palaces and royal were unmoved; no brazen trumpet blared; no arms rang; no glittering throngs voiced their pleasure; no lordly heads were bared; no princely knees were bent. Only the shepherds, the lowly ones, heard the glad tidings from the lips of an angel, that the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, the Creator of heaven and earth, was I born, not in a palace, but in a stable. He who made all things, forsook the ineffable power and happiness and dignity and glory of Heaven, to be born for our sakes in humility and poverty, a helpless infant in the stable of Bethlehem. - The Humility of the Manger, The Sacred Heart Review, 1903

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1399801 Composed by Music: David Lantz III and Words: Susan Bentall Boersma. Christmas,Sacred. 12 pages. Lantz Choral Publications #983053. Published by Lantz Choral Publications (A0.1399801). Intended use: Christmas Eve, ChristmasThe verses of this exquisite lyric by Susan Bentall Boersma focus on Mary’s wonderment and awe while reflecting on her newborn baby, the Divine Child. Looking back from His time in her womb to His lying in the manger, Mary reflects on the thought that He, while a helpless baby, is also Lord of All. This is an excellent opportunity to feature a strong soprano soloist; the setting is very personal, and the soloist portrays Mary. This original anthem for SAB voices and piano features extremely lyrical melodic writing, thick vocal harmonies and a wide spectrum of dynamics.Full SAB score and parts for chamber orchestra (LCP0245).Accompaniment track mp3 of the orchestration is also available (LCP0148)Also available for SATB (LCP0095); SATB orchestration (LCP0147)NOTE: The audio recording is that of the SATB version.
