The song reached No. 2 in the UK, No. 4 in the U.S., and No. 1 in Canada, making Los Bravos the first Spanish rock band to have an international hit single.A cover version was released in 1976 by the French all-girl trio La Belle Epoque, which peaked at No. 2 in the UK, and made it to No. 1 in Australia in late 1978. Australian-American singer Rick Springfield also performed a version of the song on his 1982 album, Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet.Since then several other cover versions have appeared in various countries around the world and, in 1980, the English group The Shadows had a hit in Europe with an instrumental version on their Another String Of Hot Hits And More! album.
