The poem “In Flanders Fields†was written by Canadian army doctor John McCrae during World War I, after his friend Alexis Helmer got fatally injured on May 2, 1915.
Many arrangements of this poem include the 5th line musically in the second verse, whereas this line belongs to the first verse.
