This charming 3-Part choir arrangement is a quodlibet of three traditional songs about rain: Rain, Rain, Go Away; It's Raining, It's Pouring; and Pitter Patter Raindrops. It begins with a sparse staccato section which builds quickly to emulate the start of a rain shower, and then each song is added one after another until all three songs are sung at the same time. Then the rain sounds begin again until the rain shower ends with one final Drop. The piano score is simple and supports the singers, and because the song is in the key of F, Orff instruments can easily be added (or replace the piano entirely). Suitable for elementary aged students (range E4-D5), and perfect for a fall (autumn), spring, or early summer concert, or classroom instruction. Approximate performance time 1:40.

These two gems for SAB voices work beautifully as a pair. The first, Se lontan, ben mio, tu sei (KV438) is on the slow side, in E flat major. The second, Luci care, luci belle (KV346) is faster, and a step higher, in F major, making for a wonderful “lift to the second part of Due Notturni. These are flexible in that they can be performed with the provided piano accompaniment, a cappella, or with two different instrumentalal combinations: violins I, II and cello, or clarinets I, II and bassoon (or other bass clef C-Instrument). Meant to be performed in Italian, these short pieces are lovely to sing and are great pieces to introduce your choirs to the language.

Agnus dei for SSA Women’s Chorus and Piano uses as an inspiration the melody from the aria Ombra mai fú from Handel’s opera Serse. The long, lyrical melody borne forward by the steady, quiet, powerful accompaniment conveys a tranquil sacredness. The sense of entreaty and desire for benediction expressed in the Agnus Dei seems a natural fit with Handel’s famous melody. An instrumental introduction leads to the voice calling out agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi. An instrumental meditation follows leading back to the conclusion of the piece. Arrangements for other ensembles are also available (Vocal Solo, SAB, SATB) as well as separate versions featuring, Solo Violin, Flute, Oboe or Clarinet and soloist with chorus. Difficulty is moderate for the singers, instrumental soloist and pianist and is suitable for a sacred setting or the concert hall. Duration approximately 4 minutes.
