The first is in a traditional madrigal style, with a fa la la section and features and echo chorus. The second is lush and lovely, homophonic in nature, with a thought-provoking text. The third is up-tempo and includes an optional hand drum: it could be used as a processional or at a madrigal dinner. Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818192 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #6629877. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818192). An arrangement of the traditional Christmas Carol The Lord at first did Adam make for three-part (SABar) choir and organ by Philip Le Bas. This ancient carol tells the story of the fall of Adam, causing humanity to be wrapt in sin. Yet out of God's goodness we are redeemed by the birth of Christ. The listeners are exhorted to begin an holy life to live, and to rejoice and merry be, for this is Christmas Eve. The version presented here is intended for parish choirs lacking in tenor and bass singers, but with a good organ! It starts in a slightly dark, primeval way with open fifths in the organ part, developing into a minor key throughout the verses, but with a decidedly more positive feel in G major in each of the refrains. The accompaniment expresses the drama expressed in the lyrics without the choral parts becoming too involved, and the whole piece (4 1/2 minutes) ends on a celebratory Tierce de Picardy: for this is Christmas Eve!.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.958317 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Brandon Hollihan. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Instructional. Octavo. 7 pages. Brandon Hollihan #4353917. Published by Brandon Hollihan (A0.958317). I wrote this SAB arrangement for my mostly freshmen Concert Choir students at Whetstone High School in Columbus, Ohio, including a violin solo (or other C instrument) and piano accompaniment to support the singers.  The first three verses are sung, and you'll see some of the words have been edited in order to have a better fit in a public school environment.  An excellent choice for middle school or 9th grade choir teachers look to supplement a holiday-themed program.  Also very fitting for Advent/Christmas church settings.  The violin solo has no bowing or slur marks, and so the player is free to write whichever markings he or she sees fit for performance.  I am happy to provide the violin PDF free charge if you email me at bhollihan5 AT gmail DOT com.  Minimum of 10 orders, please.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719785 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Curtis Hanson #6572763. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719785). This setting of the traditional 15th century French carol is derived from the arranger's SATB settings but here with keyboard accompaniment and C instrument plus two optional handbells. The first three verses are simplified to mostly unison or in canon on the 3rd verse. An instrumental interlude features the C instrument and accompaniment in more expansive and contemporary treatment. In the final verse the choral writing and harmonies create a more contemporary feel to this 15th century classic. It then closes with the hollow open fifth harmony from the beginning of the piece.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.851260 Composed by Tim Attride. Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Tim Attride #1916993. Published by Tim Attride (A0.851260). Two Epiphany anthems for the price of one.  Firstly, Arabia's Magi sought him is a setting of original English words by the composer which references the journey of the Magi, their gifts and the redemption of the world following a humble birth.  This three-part (S,A,Bar.) homophonic piece is only one page in length but, in its 45-second duration, sets the scene for the following Latin motet.  Ubi est qui natus est uses the words from Matthew 2,2 when the Magi ask after the new-born King of Judea.  Comprising three short contrapuntal sections, this section lasts about 1.15.  Either section (English or Latin) may be used independently or, as intended, with the English followed immediately by the Latin.Marked as Early Intermediate because there are a few intervals which may catch the unwary sight-reader.  However, with practice, this is certainly not difficult.  (And, yes, I know this is not actually a Christmas piece, but it may well be included in a service of Lessons & Carols - and there was no option for Epiphany.)N.B. The second & third pages are for reference; please print (& back) pages 1 & 3-5 for the complete work, or 3-5 to miss the title page.
