It is fun and catchy and features a Vocal Percussion part (Beatboxing).VOCAL LAYOUT:The melody, or lead line, is divided amongst the vocal parts to give variety. The B.G (background) parts replicate the instrumental accompaniment of the original track, filling out the arrangement and creating the contemporary texture that is at the heart of Pop A Cappella. The Vocal Percussion (Beatboxing) should be a feature, and they provide the arrangement with much of the groove and vibe it needs.The dynamics give an indication which vocal parts should be strongest at any given moment, but changes may need to be made depending on the number / balance of singers, and the strengths of each vocal section. As a general rule, the melody or lead should be strongest, followed by any harmony parts (those with lyrics), followed by any background parts (Mmm's / Dmm's, etc).RHYTHM & BASS:This Beatboxing part is suitable for medium level vocal percussionists, and is made up of groupings of patterns. Use: Christmas services. Great for choirs low on male voices. Performance: I wrote this piece as the finale to The Father Sent the Son, a cantata I wrote for one of my church choirs. The last theme in this piece is a reprise of the title music. I was thinking of the shepherds running to tell their neighbors what they had seen that wonderful night in Bethlehem. Avoid singing with a heavy tone. There should be buoyancy in the tone and in the diction. The tempo is fast a mm140, but it works if you pianist can handle it. I have done it at mm132 on more than occasion for a piano player's sake. It still worked okay, but if you can manage 140,do it. A fairly simple arrangement of this Coldplay ballad for SSA or school choir, in the original key with an easy piano accompaniment that can be adapted to suit your desired style. There is a short a cappella section for a change of feel. If you are very worried about the group pitching then it is easy enough for your accompanist to add whatever support is needed. You could also use a backing track for a bigger sound or add bass and/or percussion in the latter section. Harmonically simple, but with some enjoyable suspensions. Enjoy playing with the expression throughout.
