Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350436 By Joy Byford. By Joy Byford. Arranged by Joy Byford. 19th Century,Traditional. 10 pages. Joy Byford #935239. Published by Joy Byford (A0.1350436). Composed in lockdown 2020, this was my first attempt at writing music for my ladies choir (SSA voices). I used the words of a well loved poem I remembered from school; 'Song of the River' from 'The Water Babies' (by Charles Kingsley) which tells the story of a river from its clear and pure source, through a polluted town, then out into the sea. It was first 'performed' as a virtual choir by some friends during lockdown see https://youtu.be/3hxWryNM1Wk.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1203480 By Philip Le Bas. By Philip Le Bas. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Philip Le Bas #802114. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1203480). A joyful, upbeat setting of Psalm 148 for 3-part choir (SAB) by Philip Le Bas to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, 6th May 2023. Although the time signatures may at first seem daunting, this is very simple to perform and the piano part is deliberately supportive. The composer hopes singers will find it fun to sing, and perhaps a church congregation might be encouraged to join in with the refrains. Words: (Refrain:) Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise the Lord from the heights! Praise him all his angels; Praise him all his host! (Verses:) Praise him, praise him, sun and moon, praise him all you shining stars, praise him highest heavens, praise the name of the Lord. Great sea monsters, ocean deeps, fire and hail at his command, snow and frost and stormy wind, praise the name of the Lord. Praise him, hills and mountains, cattle and wild animals, creeping things and flying birds, praise the name of the Lord. He commanded, they were made, fixed their bounds as he decreed, founded them for ever. Praise the name of the Lord. Kings of the earth and princes, rulers of every nation, women and men together praise the name of the Lord.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1029924 Composed by Charles H. Gabriel, Civilla D. Martin. Arranged by Andrew H. Davis. A Cappella,Christian,Instructional,Sacred,Spiritual,Standards. Octavo. 5 pages. Hale Publishing #5828723. Published by Hale Publishing (A0.1029924). This breathtaking hymn is arranged liberally for SSAB a cappella voices. Similarly to Steal Away, by the same composer, the tonal center remains relatively strong, making this a doable a cappella piece for a choir that is not specifically used to singing without accompaniment. The harmonies include lots of passing tones and complicated chords that will still challenge your more advanced choirs.  A few solo opportunities also allow for showcasing your students as written, or to improvise.  .

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320399 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Traditional. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #908916. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1320399). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.  The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.  In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. The lyrics in this arrangement are the familiar ones written in the 1870s by Sir Harold Edwin Boulton. This is an easy SSA arrangement, with all vocal parts well within range and difficult leaps avoided. There are no divisi sections or solos, though can obviously create solos if you want. The keyboard part also avoids technical hurdles. Your singers will surely enjoy this joyful melody, with its contrasting verse and attractive counter-melodies. Vocal ranges are Soprano 1: D4 – D5; Soprano 2: D4 - D5; Alto: G3 - D5.
