Originally written for an international conference on the theme of 'Women and the Canon', My Voice is a melodic polyphonic work for female voices exploring the themes of gender, voice and authority. The song is founded on a recurring musical theme that builds in strength and visibility as the work progresses. The work is written in three parts (SSA) with divisi scoring within each part and short solo lines. It can be performed by an ensemble of six voices or by a larger female chorus.

Arrangement for 3-part pop choir (beginner friendly, suited for youth choir and mutating voices) with accompainment. Mirror is a very positive Song about the journey to self love. The arrangement was written for youth choirs where the singer's voices are mutating. Therfore the range is suited for singers between 11-18 but of couse adult choirs can enjoy the arrangement as well. The tree part arrangement is also very suited for various voice distributions and the male and female voices can be mixed according to the singers preference.

A Song Cycle for female soloist and women's ensemble/choir, on poem and fragments of poems by ancient Greek poet Sappho (c. 630-560 BC), written in the original language with the phonetic sounding in Latin alphabet given right below and the English translation right above the text. Three movements: 1. A hymn to Afrodite, for solo voice and simple a cappella acc. on Sappho's only extant poem (duration: ca 3'35'') 2. Fragments-nature, for three female voices a cappella on fragments on nature (duration ca 4'40'') 3. Fragments-Love for four female voices a cappella on the subject of Love and with a harp part included as doubling for the voice-parts, if acc. is desired (duration ca 5')

Here is a new melody and harmonic interpretation of the familiar text by Frederick Faber. The choral writing is not difficult though it has some chromatic alteration in the 3rd line of each verse with the harmony also somewhat different each time. The relaxed piano accompaniment is generally very supportive of the singers so the piece should be accessible for most choirs. It would make a nice addition to choral library of choirs with limited male voices. It is also available for SSA or SATB voices, solo voice, and as a simplified 4-part chorale hymn tune.

A short, attractive setting of Psalm 121 for three-part (SABar) choir and piano. It is written with parish choirs in mind (with their abundance of soprano and alto voices, but relative lack of male voices!), and consists of three sections. The first part presents the richly harmonised piano accompaniment in the form of a ritornello and the principal, rising melody from the choir, looking to the mountains for an answer to life's challenges and asking from where shall come my help? The second section presents short, pithy phrases sung by each voice separately expressing different ways in which God comes to their aid. The initial melody and accompaniment, repeating the first lines of the psalm, finally return in an altered form (both harmonically and melodically), and the setting ends with a celebration of confidence in the Lord who made heaven and earth.

This fun arrangement of this well known Andrews Sisters' song from the big band/WW2 era is arranged for female voices and would be suitable for an octet (minimum), choir or barbershop chorus.

The texture varies throughout, but where the tune is featured this is mainly sung by a trio of voices (which can be more than 3 people in a larger choir performance), with a backing group of 4 parts in close harmony texture, plus an additional walking-bass line which frequently features low Ebs (normal for barbershop groups, although normal altos may consider this very low) and one low D at the end. 

There is also an opportunity for a solo scat, with neutral backing. If this is not desired, it would be possible to cut from beat 2 in bar 44 to the 2nd beat in bar 55.

This ever-popular American folksong probably has its origins among the French Canadians who traded with Native Americans around the Great Lakes during the sixteenth century. Paddling their canoes along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers the traders were well-known for their singing. However, as most of the traders were illiterate, the songs were never written down and went through numerous changes over the years and centuries.

Shenandoah became one of the most popular capstan shanties, a slow song which set a manageable pace for the crew in a heavy and lengthy task. Most versions of the song have a similar couplet at the end of each verse. In some transcriptions, the melody is written out entirely in 4/4 time; others use triple time and some arrangements use a mixture of both. In this version, the lyrics have been selected from different versions of the song. 

This SAB arrangement for choir and piano is intended for high school, college or amateur choir and is ideal if the number of male voices is limited. The song is set in E flat major and modulates into F major. There is only one brief divisi passage (3 measure) of sustained notes in the soprano part. The top soprano note is F5 on the top line of the treble staff and the lowest note is B♭3 just under the staff. The top alto note is B♭ (mid-staff) (B♭4) and the lowest note is also B♭3. The top baritone note is the D above the bass staff (D4) and the lowest note is the low A♭ on the bass staff (A♭2). With a running time of 04:00 this piece is enjoyable to sing and hear. It’s an essential addition to your choir’s repertoire.
