Choral Choir,Choral,SAB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1451983 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1031300. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1451983). Written by Henry Williams Baker (1821-1877) and titled “The Lord Shall Give His People the Blessing of Peace,” the text of “O God of Love, Give Peace Again” was published in the 1861 edition of the landmark English hymnal, Hymns Ancient and Modern. Baker, who is perhaps best remembered for his hymn “The King of Love My Shepherd Is,” was chairman of the committee that prepared that hymnal. Because war is a constant in the world, Baker's text is always relevant. Stanza 1 is an entreaty that God would “make wars throughout the world to cease.” Stanza 2 asks that God recall his “works of old,” for only by God's hand can peace be given again. Stanza 3 extends this thought by asking “Whom shall we trust but thee, O Lord? Where rest but on thy faithful word?” and noting that “none ever called on Thee in vain.” A fourth verse, omitted in some hymnals, ends on the hopeful note that as saints and angels are bound “in holy love,” so we might also be bound to them and to one another in love and peace. In this original setting of Baker’s text, stanza 1 is sung by unison voices, stanza 2 by unison women, stanza 3 by unison men, and stanza 4 in parts following a recapitulation of the introduction and a modulation to the relative major key.  ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522228 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #4408398. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522228). The text to this new SSA setting is by Peter Abelard, the medieval French scholastic philosopher, theologian and logician. The setting gives opportunities for soprano and alto solos though they can be sung tutti if more appropriate. The keyboard part is essential though there are two a cappella sections in the arrangement. The vocal parts all lie easily within average range. The keyboard part, with its plodding bass line (which may be doubled on double bass if required) gives the impression of the slow walk of Jesus to the Cross. This is a melancholy, reflective arrangement. Other SSA titles in this series of three Easter canticles are “My Song is Love Unknown†(Text by Samuel Crossman 1624-1683) and “A Time to Watch, A time to Pray (Text by John Mason Neale 1818-1866â€. In the audio sample, soprano 1 is played by the flute, soprano 2 by the oboe and alto by the clarinet.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719785 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Curtis Hanson #6572763. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719785). This setting of the traditional 15th century French carol is derived from the arranger's SATB settings but here with keyboard accompaniment and C instrument plus two optional handbells. The first three verses are simplified to mostly unison or in canon on the 3rd verse. An instrumental interlude features the C instrument and accompaniment in more expansive and contemporary treatment. In the final verse the choral writing and harmonies create a more contemporary feel to this 15th century classic. It then closes with the hollow open fifth harmony from the beginning of the piece.
