Difficulty: Not difficult. Not hard to learn. Fun to sing. The piano part will take some practice and will require a comfortable octave reach. History: The Father Sent the Son is the title song of a cantata I composed ten or so years ago for a church choir that could barely muster a men's section. They loved to sing. They rehearsed every Sunday afternoon between services and sang every Sunday morning for worship and often in the evenings. They loved the entire cantata and sang it with enthusiasm. Since that time other choirs have song the cantata, and I have added and subtracted and rewritten through the years. I wanted to get the entire cantata as close to perfection as possible before I published it, but I have decided to publish the portions I am most happy with piecemeal for the time being. When all portions are where I thing they should be, I will publish the entire cantata as one work. Lord willing, of course.  Please let me know if you enjoy the music I write. When commissioning Rejoice and Sing it was our intention not only to have a concert work written for our Youth Chorale but also a work that would be an instrument in teaching Hassidism, for what better way is there to teach Hassidism than through its music. We also wanted to demonstrate that authentic Hassidic music can be arranged in a sophisticated musical manner without having to sacrifice the inherent folk nature and simplicity that is so indicative of Hassidic song. We were most fortunate in securing the talents of Sholom Kalib to carry out this project with us. Dr. Kalib from youth has been steeped with a unique blend of love and understanding of traditional Jewish music and a very high degree of general musicianship. He succeeded in turning these basically simple tunes into a highly inventive musical work without sacrificing the legitimate qualities of the material with which he was working. The forces available were SAB choir plus a Tenor soloist and someone in the choir who could play flute. The flute part is optional, the solo can be taken by anyone who is capable or sung by all the men in unison. The text expresses the values we all admire in a Life that has been lived well in the service of others. It is equally effective in a religious service or a secular setting, with well written vocal lines, a strong melodic character, and a rich harmonic foundation.

I wanted to create an arrangement where the tune is less often in the Soprano voice, giving the Alto's and Bari's a chance to have the tune. This arrangement is designed to be a suitable for choirs with a small (or new) Bari section. The Bari line often sings with either the Soprano or the Altos, effectively making this a (mostly) two part harmony piece, with a few three-part harmony sections. PLEASE NOTE that the number of copies purchased available for printing is the collective number of piano vocal and vocal score collectively, not that number of copies of both.

This short Requiem by Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924) was commissioned by the publisher Giulio Ricordi, who wanted to mark the fourth anniversary (27 January 1905) of the death of Verdi by celebrating the memory of the King of 19th century Italian opera with a work composed by his successor on the opera stages of the world. According to a note by the composer on the first page of the manuscript, the piece was completed on 14 January 1905 in Milan and thus it belongs to the period in which the composer from Lucca had reached his full maturity, at a point in time between the fiasco of the premiere of Madama Butterfly at La Scala, Milan (1904) and the premiere of his next opera, La Fanciulla del West (1910).Today the work is often performed, since this setting for three voices can be easily performed by amateur choirs and requires only a viola (or violin) and a harmonium (or organ) as accompanying instruments.Our edition is for treble- or female voices choir, viola (violin) and harmonium (organ).

After searching in vain for an arrangement,  I wrote my own. Don't be fooled by its origin on the television special Christmas  Eve on Sesame Street - it's not just for the little ones; over the years I've found it to be appealing to people of all ages. Along with the piano accompaniment, I've included  electric bass and guitar parts which will complement True Blue Miracle's character,  effectiveness and fun.
