Lennon turned a negative reaction to Cynthia Lennon’s chatter into an inspired, positive, transcendental meditation-influenced song. It was first released on a charity album and included female backing vocals and a children’s choir. A pared back version was then released on the Beatles Let It Be album. I was inspired by but too late for the Space and Time themed RMIT Music concert, which happened to be on John Lennon’s birthday, and arranged the song for SAA voices, with the melody in an alto-friendly key, matching the CORP attendees at the time. The melody is faithful to the original recording, adds an accompanying “wah-wah� in the second verse, suggestive of the trippy guitar effect, and reinstates the female backing vocals in the third verse.

Agnus Dei - Choral Arrangement for SSA and Piano arranged by Michael Thomas CoullAgnus Dei is the Latin name under which the 'Lamb of God' is honoured within the Roman Catholic church, descending from the Latin tradition.  It is the name given to a specific prayer that occurs in the church liturgy, and the music that accompanies the text of this prayer.   The use of the title 'Lamb of God' is based on John 1:29, in which St John the Baptist, upon seeing the Saviour proclaims 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' This arrangement of Michael W Smith’s Agnus Dei is based on the version that popular American singer/songwriter Amy Grant released on her third seasonal holiday album in 1999.  This inspirational arrangement for SSA choir and piano accompaniment can be performed at any time of the year.  The use of open fifths and fourths give the harmonies a sacred 'medieval' feeling, that will impress and fill any audience with awe.Also available for SATB.

Two Epiphany anthems for the price of one.  Firstly, Arabia's Magi sought him is a setting of original English words by the composer which references the journey of the Magi, their gifts and the redemption of the world following a humble birth.  This three-part (S,A,Bar.) homophonic piece is only one page in length but, in its 45-second duration, sets the scene for the following Latin motet.  Ubi est qui natus est uses the words from Matthew 2,2 when the Magi ask after the new-born King of Judea.  Comprising three short contrapuntal sections, this section lasts about 1.15.  Either section (English or Latin) may be used independently or, as intended, with the English followed immediately by the Latin.Marked as Early Intermediate because there are a few intervals which may catch the unwary sight-reader.  However, with practice, this is certainly not difficult.  (And, yes, I know this is not actually a Christmas piece, but it may well be included in a service of Lessons & Carols - and there was no option for Epiphany.)N.B. O Come, Divine Messiah! is a hymn by Abbé Simon-Joseph Pellegrin (1663-1745), a French poet, playwright, and librettist who collaborated with Jean-Philippe Rameau and other composers. In addition to stage plays and opera libretti, his works included two collections of carols, published in 1708 and 1711. Pellegrin’s text for this hymn communicates the longing for a Redeemer by a world enslaved in sin, and is therefore appropriate for the season of expectation and preparation that is Advent. The tune, however - a 16th-century French Noël - is sprightly and cheerful, making this anthem especially fitting for the third Sunday of Advent - Gaudete Sunday, which derives its name from the introit for the day, Rejoice (Gaudete) in the Lord always.
