Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320399 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Traditional. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #908916. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1320399). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.  The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.  In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. The lyrics in this arrangement are the familiar ones written in the 1870s by Sir Harold Edwin Boulton. This is an easy SSA arrangement, with all vocal parts well within range and difficult leaps avoided. There are no divisi sections or solos, though can obviously create solos if you want. The keyboard part also avoids technical hurdles. Your singers will surely enjoy this joyful melody, with its contrasting verse and attractive counter-melodies. Vocal ranges are Soprano 1: D4 – D5; Soprano 2: D4 - D5; Alto: G3 - D5.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1223911 Composed by C. Luise Reichardt/ Arthur S. Sullivan. Arranged by Sandy McIntire. 19th Century,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Traditional. Octavo. 23 pages. Sandy McIntire #820042. Published by Sandy McIntire (A0.1223911). Who Is On the Lord's Side? with the tune name of Armageddon is a gospel hymn published in 1877 that has continued to increase in popularity into the 21st Century. It is combined here with Onward Christian Soldiers, the well-known 19th-century  hymn with lyrics by S. Baring-Gould and music by Arthur Sullivan. These inspiring hymns are combined here in a medley for Intermediate SAB (soprano, alto, baritone) choir with a piano accompaniment. The result is a rousing march sure to be a foot-tapping pleaser that can include the congregation on the final chorus.

Choral Choir,Choral (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1296267 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship. 12 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #886511. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1296267). This is a lively arrangement based on the traditional text but a completely new melody. It's an English Christmas carol, which dates back at least to the 17th century. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the those that carried the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century. The joyful main theme is in 7/8 time and divides into 2+2+3. This is easier than it sounds because much of the piece consists of  four measures of 7/8 followed by a measure of 4/4. Singers will soon get to feel the rhythm and become familiar with this time signature. It’s scored for a fairly experienced SAA choir with keyboard accompaniment. The SAA voicing is ideal for high school or college use, where lower voices may not be available. The arrangement has really been conceived for boy-choir or girl-choir. In the reflective middle section, there are opportunities for solos, though they are optional. Audiences and singers alike are sure to enjoy this joyful music. The keyboard part is fairly straightforward though requires a competent pianist. It would be a great addition to your Christmas concert or service. (Duration: 03.00)Voice ranges are well within normal high school range: Soprano 1: C4-F5; Soprano 2: A3 - D5; Alto: G3- D5. If you like this choral piece, you might also be interested in two of the other Colin Kirkpatrick Nativity Anthems in this series: And a Star is Shining in the East and Three Kings from Eastern Lands.  Both titles are available from the same publisher.
