Choral Choir,Choral,SAB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472847 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1050477. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1472847). “That We May Give Ourselves” is a short anthem based on a traditional collect — a prayer comprising an invocation, petition, and conclusion — that appears in various Anglican prayer books. The invocation, “Eternal God and Father, by whose power we are created and by whose love we are redeemed” acknowledges the eternity, creative power, and redeeming love of God. The petition, “Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give ourselves to your service, and live this day in love to one another, and live this day in love to you” asks for the aid of the Holy Spirit in service to God and recalls Jesus's words in the Gospel of Matthew, 22:37-39: “And [Jesus] said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”The conclusion, “through Jesus Christ our Lord,” reflects the mediating role of Jesus Christ the Son, as expressed in I Timothy 2:5 (“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”) and Ephesians 2:18 (“For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father”).Appropriate at any time of year, this short anthem of dedication is an ideal offertory selection.  ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1107023 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #709859. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1107023). Bread of the World, Bread of Heaven combines texts on the eucharist, or holy communion, by the Anglican bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826) and the English Congregationalist author, editor, and hymn-writer Josiah Conder (1789-1855). The first stanza of Heber's Bread of the world in mercy broken focuses on the forgiveness of sin and sinners by Christ's grace as they gather at the Lord's table, while Conder's Bread of heav'n, on thee we feed emphasizes the restoration to health and wholeness of those who eat and drink of Christ's Body and Blood. Both texts refer to the sacramental bread and wine as the gifts by which our souls are fed. In this original setting for SAB choir and organ, Heber's text is set to a chant-like tune for unison SA voices in D minor, which transitions to a chorale-like setting of Conder's text for full SAB in D major. ©Copyright 2022 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral,SAB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1451983 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1031300. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1451983). Written by Henry Williams Baker (1821-1877) and titled “The Lord Shall Give His People the Blessing of Peace,” the text of “O God of Love, Give Peace Again” was published in the 1861 edition of the landmark English hymnal, Hymns Ancient and Modern. Baker, who is perhaps best remembered for his hymn “The King of Love My Shepherd Is,” was chairman of the committee that prepared that hymnal. Because war is a constant in the world, Baker's text is always relevant. Stanza 1 is an entreaty that God would “make wars throughout the world to cease.” Stanza 2 asks that God recall his “works of old,” for only by God's hand can peace be given again. Stanza 3 extends this thought by asking “Whom shall we trust but thee, O Lord? Where rest but on thy faithful word?” and noting that “none ever called on Thee in vain.” A fourth verse, omitted in some hymnals, ends on the hopeful note that as saints and angels are bound “in holy love,” so we might also be bound to them and to one another in love and peace. In this original setting of Baker’s text, stanza 1 is sung by unison voices, stanza 2 by unison women, stanza 3 by unison men, and stanza 4 in parts following a recapitulation of the introduction and a modulation to the relative major key.  ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral,SAB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1461383 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1040136. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1461383). “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling” are the opening words to a text written by the Welsh Anglican bishop Timothy Rees (1874-1939). Throughout, Rees employs the adverb “ever” to point to both the immanence and transcendence of the Holy Spirit in its timeless and perpetual activities:Holy Spirit, ever dwelling in the holiest realms of light,Holy Spirit, ever brooding o'er a world of gloom and night,Holy Spirit, ever raising those of earth to thrones on high, living, life-imparting Spirit, you we praise and magnify.Holy Spirit, ever living as the Church's very life,Holy Spirit, ever striving through us in a ceaseless strife,Holy Spirit, ever forming in the Church the mind of Christ, you we praise with endless worship for your gracious gifts unpriced.Holy Spirit, ever working through the Church's ministry, teaching, strength'ning, and absolving, setting captive sinners free,Holy Spirit, ever binding age to age and soul to soulin communion never ending, you we worship and extol.Mostly unison, with limited SAB voicing in verses 2 and 3, “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling” is quick to rehearse, easy to sing, and a meaningful declaration of praise to the third Person of the Holy Trinity.©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1357822 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Folk,Sacred,Traditional. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #942325. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1357822). “Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide†pairs a text by Marcus Morris Wells (1815-1895) with the Scottish/Irish folk melody “WILD MOUNTAIN THYME.â€Little is known of Wells, who was converted to Christianity as a youth at a mission in Buffalo, New York and spent most of his life near Hartwick, New York as a farmer and maker of farm implements. “Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide†appears to be his single, memorable hymn; according to the website hymnary.org, it has appeared in 675 hymnals since its publication in 1858.The tune used as the basis of this arrangement is known variously as “Wild Mountain Thyme,†“Purple Heather,†and “Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?†and is a variant of the song “The Braes of Balquhither†by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill (1774–1810) and Scottish composer Robert Archibald Smith (1780–1829), adapted by Belfast musician Francis McPeake (1885–1971) into “Wild Mountain Thyme.†This simple folk melody is ideally suited to the simple, personal sentiment of Wells’ text. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.786873 Composed by Martin Dover. A Cappella,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Martin Dover #3380917. Published by Martin Dover (A0.786873). An alternative setting of the well-known Christmas poem by Christina Rossetti. This arrangement for SSA choir with piano accompaniment starts with a gentle introduction to the theme. It moves through an alternative tune for verses 2 and 4 modulating each time into a new key as the original theme returns for verses 3 and 5. A combination of beautiful simplicity with some striking harmonies and a capella sections make this an interesting new version of a familiar carol. Also available in SATB arrangement.
