This beautiful Celtic-style song from Shawn Mendes' album, Handwritten is given new life in this accessible arrangement for 3-part mixed choir, piano and optional acoustic guitar. Everyone gets to sing at least part of the melody at some point. Vocal ranges: Part I (Bb3-Eb5), Part II (Bb3-A4), Part III (F3-Eb4). The whistling sections may be sung on an oo and/or whistled by some singers. There are 4 solo options: two for Part I or II, and two for Part III. This arrangement works beautifully for middle school and 9th or 10th grade high school ensembles. Part III is especially appropriate for boys' changing voices. White Winter Hymnal was first released by the American indie folk band Fleet Foxes in 2008 as the first single from their debut self-titled album. The song was written by group member Robin Pecknold and has been covered by several groups and solo singers including Kim Wilde in 2013 and Pentatonix in 2014.

The meaning behind White Winter Hymnal is somewhat open to conjecture. Pecknold has explained that he intended this gently uplifting song to be like Whistle While You Work from Snow White â€“ something to hum along to as you do the dishes. Pecknold added that the words actually tell a more painful story about loss of the innocence of youth, being about my experience when I was a kid, you know, like I had my really tight group of friends. But as we grew up from grade school to junior high to high school, everybody just kind of split off, and everybody kind of changed. I went from like this tight-knit group to, seemingly for no reason, everybody was kind of going their own way. That song is just about that feeling.

This very accessible arrangement, featuring piano and guitar accompaniment with tambourine percussion, is ideally suited to winter and general programming, and makes an ideal concert opener.

Inspired by both renditions by Celtic Woman -- one performed by Lisa Lambe singing solo, and the other one by the female ensemble together with a children's choir, this is a fun arrangement of the classic Bridge Over Troubled Water.  The piece starts with a folk style of solo singing, followed by gospel pop with SAB choir and children's choir coming in.  This challenging piece ends with both choirs singing the climax chorus with the solo voice doing the descant.  The tin whistle, giving an Irish-style opening, can be replaced by any solo instrument.
