Choral 3-Part Chorus,Choir,Choral - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1401782 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Christian,Contemporary,Praise and Worship,Sacred. 10 pages. Robert A. Howard #984966. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.1401782). This catchy three-part anthem with accompaniment sets a text by Revd Canon Dr Gordon Giles, and was composed for the 2022 RSCM Harold Smart Anthem Competition. The work plays with alternating A minor and A major tonalities, with three verses exploring textural variation in the choral parts (including solo lines, harmony, and canon). The imitative recurring chorus is also varied on each return. The coda gradually builds in dynamics, texture and pitch, in setting repetitions of the word 'Amen', leading to the final A minor climax. This anthem is also available in versions for solo voice, and for SA choir, both with accompaniment, as well as a piano solo version titled 'Lauda', all from SMP.Duration: 3 minutes 30 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1264867 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Early Music,Folk,Irish,Wedding. Octavo. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #857706. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1264867). This lovely folksong is thought to have come from Scotland, though similar versions have been recorded in other parts of Britain. The song is also known as O Waly, Waly which means something like “woe is meâ€. For such an old song, it is not surprising that there are many variations of the lyrics. An early version of the modern lyrics was consolidated by the British folksong collector Cecil Sharp in 1906, using multiple older sources in southern England. There are many sets of lyrics with different story-lines. This was because in the past, performers would often create new lyrics for the song. This melody has attracted an entire family of lyrics many of which bear little relationship to each other. The words used in this choral arrangement reflect the popular lyrics used during the twentieth century. The song was arranged for voice and piano in 1948 by British composer Benjamin Britten but in more recent times, was made popular by many folk singers notably Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. It has become one of the most popular folk songs today, largely because of its beautiful tune. But as with the lyrics, there are many variations on the melody with the result that no single variation can be considered the “correct†one. This SAB arrangement by Colin Kirkpatrick is ideal for high school or college choir, especially if the tenor/bass section is a bit low on numbers. Each section of the choir has the melody line at some point and there are attractive and evocative counter-melodies. In the soprano part (which has one brief divisi section), the highest note is G5 (which occurs only once and safely approached) and the highest note in the alto part is C5 (in the middle of the treble staff). The bartione part lies between A flat 2 (bottom space in bass clef) and D3 (just above the staff). The piano part is an integral part of the arrangement and therefore essential. The music begins in E flat and modulates to C major. Running at just over three minutes, the work is sure to be popular with choir and audiences alike.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127905 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Christmas,Easter,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 57 pages. Philip Le Bas #728514. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127905). A new setting by Philip Le Bas of the ancient carol The Seven Joys of Mary (or Joys Seven, or a variety of other possible titles.) This version includes easy accompaniment parts for flute, clarinet, horn, bassoon and piano. Since medieval times the number of Joys of Mary has varied between five, seven, ten and twelve, but the the current number of seven has become popular, especially since the basic harmonization of R.R. Terry published in 1833 and the contemporary version for 8-part choir by Stephen Cleobury in the OUP's Carols for Choirs series. (A history of the carol can be found in the New Oxford Book of Carols, edited by H Keyte and A Parrott, p.462f.) The version presented here is kept relatively simple to perform, being scored only for a three-part choir (SABar - soprano, alto, baritone) and piano, but with plenty of interest including changes in voicing, changes of rhythm (especially verse 6) and two key changes. The arranger hopes performers and listeners will find it energetic and fun! It should certainly be sung in that spirit! Although often associated with Christmas, it could in fact be performed in any season, including Easter, referring as it does to the whole life, death and resurrection of Christ.

Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1357822). “Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide†pairs a text by Marcus Morris Wells (1815-1895) with the Scottish/Irish folk melody “WILD MOUNTAIN THYME.â€Little is known of Wells, who was converted to Christianity as a youth at a mission in Buffalo, New York and spent most of his life near Hartwick, New York as a farmer and maker of farm implements. “Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide†appears to be his single, memorable hymn; according to the website hymnary.org, it has appeared in 675 hymnals since its publication in 1858.The tune used as the basis of this arrangement is known variously as “Wild Mountain Thyme,†“Purple Heather,†and “Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?†and is a variant of the song “The Braes of Balquhither†by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill (1774–1810) and Scottish composer Robert Archibald Smith (1780–1829), adapted by Belfast musician Francis McPeake (1885–1971) into “Wild Mountain Thyme.†This simple folk melody is ideally suited to the simple, personal sentiment of Wells’ text. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1073918 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Chris Hutchings. A Cappella,Christmas,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Traditional. Octavo. 5 pages. Chris Hutchings #678179. Published by Chris Hutchings (A0.1073918). The traditional tune Good King Wenceslas is here arranged for a three-part choir with sopranos (range C4-G5), altos (range G3-C5), and baritones (range A2-D4) - there is no additional divisi and it could be sung by a confident trio of soloists. The verses have extremely varied harmony, with all parts getting the melody at various times. Chromatic work in verses 3 and 4 gives a dark, haunting harmony before verse 5 returns with a bright 3-part fugue. This will be an enjoyable challenge for any SABar choir, without any part feeling bored or left out!
