The iconic Italian songs have served as the foundation for countless singers for over a hundred years.  My settings are an accessible alternative and will provide teachers with new tools for their students’ technical and musical advancement.  They offer a welcome change both melodically and harmonically and many have a limited range with a comfortable tessitura. Most of the songs are brief, lasting around two minutes.  Another attractive feature is the inclusion of a literal English translation directly above the Italian.  I believe these songs will be successful for auditions and in recital settings, both informal and formal.  My hope is that over time, these 24 Italian Songs and Arias for 21st Century Singers will take their place beside the originals for the establishment of a solid vocal technique. The complete volume is available from Classical Vocal Reprints (www.classicalvocalrep.com)Model #5273

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031391 Composed by Words by William Shakespears Music by Ronald LO Ching long. Contemporary. 8 pages. Ronald #6691937. Published by Ronald (A0.1031391).  Inspired by the idea of representation in music to express my feeling, I started to compose this song cycle from the beginning of May to the beginning of June. In this song cycle, I aimed to spread an ironic message to reflect the loss of humanity of human using the poems about winter by Mr. William Shakespeare for text painting. The key of the featured song Blow, Blow Thou Winter wind is B minor. It portrays a cold and miserable feeling. The first phrase Blow, blow, thou winter wind shows a blowing effect especially in the work blow in the voice part. This makes the phrase more flowing. The second verse heigh-ho! Sing, heigh-ho! Unto the green holly describes a resonant sounding effect. The second phrase Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly criticizes the dark side of friendship and love, so the key changes back to minor, which serves as a contrast to the previous phrase. The main idea of this verse: this life is most jolly ends with a major to emphasize the description of numerous negative feeling with hope and joy.
