The accompaniments can also be played as a duet with another harp or piano by the student's sibling, parent, or friend.This book will have the kids wanting to practice! Subtitled Fun Songs for Beginners and Friends, it is an excellent supplement for any teacher of young students. The songs are very short, usually 2 or 3 lines, and have fun lyrics about dragons or dinosaurs. The first 7 songs have fingerings and placing brackets. Each tune has a musical concept the teacher can briefly touch on to reinforce theory, such as eighth notes, placing, measures, time signatures, intervals, accents, arpeggios, glisses, tempo, thumb slides, scales, pickup measure, accidentals, ties, and more. All of the pieces are in the key of C. Here is another collection of beautiful pieces, similar to Mr. Mahan's first collection of French pieces entitled French Impressions,  with the impressionistic harmonies. These pieces can be played on lever or pedal harp, but not on small harps of 26 strings or less. The melodies are lovely. Intermediate level, left hand is supportive of right hand melodies and usually contains ascending arpeggios. Carousel and Moonlight on the Seine are quite different than the others in the collection, one having the driving 3/4 rhythm and the other having a decidedly modal feel. Published by Harpoline (A0.912221). This is another beloved tune written by the well loved blind harper Turlough O'Carolan. I have arranged it for lever harp. l I have added all fingering and dynamics. The difficulty is around grade 2 to 4 level. It needs a lever change while playing and the lever needs to be changed back quickly. It also shows some sliding, so 1-1 fingering. But fingering is always optional so if you or your teacher don't like it, change it.  The key is G-major so you need to have an F sharp lever, and a C sharp lever for the lever change. You can use it for piano as well.(with different fingering).

This is the second-to-last song composed in 1738 by the greatest composer of music for the Celtic harp: Turlough O'Carolan.  The story goes that when Turlough was quite old he went to his doctor, who told him that if he didn't give up the whiskey he couldn't be assured of seeing another year.  So Turlough did what any sane man would do: he got a second opinion.  He consulted Dr. John Stafford who wrote him a prescription (in those days it was called a receipt) for whiskey, and it return O'Carolan wrote this. .

The second tune has become more well-known, but I think this one is the more beautiful, matching the sentiment of the words. It dates back to the earliest version of this song, in the early 1600's.

It is also beautiful enough to play at any occasion. It can be played on the piano with different fingering.
