Harp - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.928333

Composed by Rory Dall. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 4 pages. Karen Peterson #5993785. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928333).

WATCH THE D DORIAN VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of A dorian. To hear the D dorian version played on a larger harp, go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0-Kg0LifaU

Overview: This tune was published by Daniel Dow in the 1770s and was probably composed by Roderick Morison (~1656-1713). My double-strung harp arrangement in the dorian mode has rolled, echoed chords, highlighting the depth of sound we can get from having two sets of strings. The accompaniment hand traverses the entire range of the harp, often overlapping the melody hand.

Key and range: A dorian (one sharp). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the D dorian version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/rorie-lament-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815669)

Lever changes: None.

Good for: Performance, memorials, therapeutic settings.

Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Rolled accompaniment chords often contain the same note as the melody, creating a rolled echo. Some chords that aren’t rolled have doubled notes in both hands, creating depth. The repetition of LH patterns makes this a great piece to learn overlapping hands with.

Characteristics: Neither hand needs to place more than an octave spread. There are some four-note chords (always LH 1-3-5-8). The RH has almost no chords. Few of the chords are inversions. There are very few sixteenth notes; no more than three played together with one hand. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has a few cross-overs/unders.

Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).

Notation: Chord symbols are provided. Treble clef is used for both staves, with 8va for very high notes.

Length: 4 pages. 60 measures, plus 12 if you take the repeat. 4 minutes.

Page turns: If you are printing, double-side pages 2 and 3 so that there is only one page turn. The RH can be used on all notes of page 2’s last measure, so that the LH can turn the page. If you are using single pages on a tablet, you can do something similar at the end of page 3. Page 1’s turn is manageable. Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.928332

By Patsy Cline. By Willie Nelson. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Country. Score. 3 pages. Karen Peterson #5993773. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928332).

WATCH THE Bb VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of F. To hear the Bb version played on a larger harp, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8WfrwixqGk

Overview: This Countrypolitan song made famous by Patsy Cline was written by a not-yet-famous Willie Nelson. The attitude of the protagonist has been described as variously bemused, bittersweet, and cathartic. What is it to you, and how can you bring that emotion into your playing?

My double-strung arrangement sets accidentals in the LH prior to playing, allowing the song to proceed without lever flips. The optional lever flip at the very end can be easily eliminated, making this song a great opportunity to practice flipping on the right with an easy recovery if you can’t get it in time.

Key and range: F major (one flat). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. Preset F#, G#, B natural, and C#. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the Bb version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/crazy-patsy-cline-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815694)

Lever changes: One optional lever change on the right. Set four accidentals on the left before playing.

Good for: Parties, performance.

Double-strung effects: Preset accidentals on the left allow for jazzy chords without lever flips. If you’ve been hesitant about moving your LH into the melody area, this is your chance to learn. You can gently move out of your comfort zone by only switching hands for these accidentals, or you can take it a step further with optional echoed notes and an optional RH lever flip.

Characteristics: The LH and RH usually play together, but with several held notes and a melody that doesn’t always strike on the downbeat, the hands play separately at least 25% of the time. There are a few instances that call for wider than an octave spread. Most chords are LH 1-5-8, 1-5-7, or 1-3-5-8. The RH has almost no chords. There are very few sixteenth notes. The most complicated placements are in the introduction with one slide and one cross-over.

Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases with bolded L/R for levered accidentals. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).

Notation: Chord symbols are provided; lyrics are included separately. Treble clef used in both staves.

Length: 2 pages. 40 measures. 2:30 minutes.

Page turns: None if you print.

Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Carrie Tollett and Christy-Lyn Dosé. Classical. Score. 3 pages. Learning the Harp #937131. Published by Learning the Harp (A0.1352336).

The simplified arrangement is a great opportunity to gain experience with lever changes and continue solidifying your technique. Although it's shorter and less complex than the late-intermediate level, it sounds really impressive and beautiful played on the harp.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Early-Intermediate. The right hand consists of overlapping brackets, cross-overs, and quick placing. The left hand is simpler in terms of notes but does have some jumping between the high and low register of the harp. There are many lever changes throughout.

Type of Harp: For big and small harps, 22 strings (C-C) and larger.

Range: Lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. Highest note is B, almost two octaves above middle C.

Levers/Pedals: In the key of D major (F and C levers set to F sharp and C sharp). Many C, D, and G lever changes throughout.

What's Included: PDF download of 3 pages. Fingering and bracketing are included.

Lever Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1301639

Composed by Scottish Traditional. Arranged by Carrie Tollett and Christy-Lyn Dosé. Christian,Traditional. Score. 7 pages. Learning the Harp #891249. Published by Learning the Harp (A0.1301639).

This is a stunning piece to add to your repertoire that will really bless anyone who listens! The melody beautifully intertwines with the left-hand accompaniment, making it sound effortless and free-flowing.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Mid-Intermediate. The right hand mostly carries the melody and frequently shares a continuation of the left-hand accompaniment. The right hand has many overlapping brackets and downward arpeggios. The left hand consists largely of 4-2-1 arpeggios with cross-unders, rolled chords, and jumping to cross over right hand to play notes in the treble clef.

Type of Harp: Big harp version is for 33-string harps or larger, but small harp version works for 26-string (C-G) harps or larger.

Range: For big harps: the lowest note is C, two octaves below middle C. The highest note is F, two and a half octaves above middle C. For small harps: the lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. The highest note is G, two and a half octaves above middle C.

Levers/Pedals: In the key of C major. There are no lever changes in this piece.
