Movement I begins in a pensive mood using stark, bare interconnecting melodic lines which occasionally coalesce to form a harmonic high points. Movement II starts out with a ground bass which states the melody, which then is transformed into several joyful variations. Movement III is a wistful setting of JOHNNY HAS GONE FOR A SOLDIER, a song from the revolutionary war era. The piece was written for harpist Elaine Christy of Princeton University. The Princeton area saw a decisive battle during the revolution, therefore the use of JOHNNY HAS GONE FOR A SOLDIER. Grade Level 6. There are no pedal markings so that the player can mark-up the part as they see fit.

This arrangement of Deep in the Meadow from Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Gamesis fitted specifically to the range of a standard small/lap 26-string harp, like the Harpsicle Fullsicle. But you can obviously play it on a larger harp, as well. It ranges from the 3rd G above middle C to the C one octave below middle C. As such, it should also fit the range of a Harp-E, Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, any of the Marini-Made lap harp line, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, or a number of Roosebeck Pakistani models.This in-world lullaby bookends the original 2010's movie franchise. And, while it's less dark than The Hanging Tree (which I reference musically), it has always felt to me inherently haunted by the violence it tries to soothe away. This book is the easy version of my book ModeUlations. The playing level is approximately early intermediate.The audio sample is an excerpt from Gypsy Fantasy. The harp solos are each two pages long. There are nine solos for lap harp (range of C below middle C and 24-26 strings). Seven of these are also arranged for larger harp. In some cases, I changed the key of the piece for the larger arrangement. Obviously, larger harps can play the entire book, while lap harps can play the nine lap harp versions.Song titles are: Absence, Aoleo, Dominoes, Dorianation, Gypsy Fantasy, Impossibilities, Leap Phrog, Mind Over Minor and Minor Malady. Many of the songs are done both for regular harp and lap harp in this book (which is why there are 16 solos in the book and only 9 song titles.) This is my slightly more complex arrangement of Leaves from the Vine from the beloved animated series Avatar: the Last Airbender, as well as the more recent Netflix live-action adaptation by the same name. It is appropriate for intermediate harpists working with an instrument as small as 26 strings, ranging from the C below middle C to the third G above Middle C (though it can obviously also be played on a larger harp, as well). It is written in the key of B-flat Major with no accidentals or lever changes. As such, it could work on an instrument model without levers, so long as the instrument is tuned with Bs and Es flat. My own instrument is a Harpsicle Fullsicle Harp. But I believe it could also work, with one or two very minor modifications, on a Harp-E, some of the Roosebeck Pakistani harp models (though check your range to be sure), Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, or Musicmakers Sonnet 29.The intro, outro, and transitions of the song weave in a medley of other themes from Avatar: The Last Airbender, including excerpts from The Avatar's Love, Four Seasons, and the main title theme. The core of the arrangement, however, centers around on variations of Leaves from the Vine.I also have a simplified, beginner-appropriate arrangement of this piece published seperately.
