Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797465 Composed by Louise Trotter. Instructional. Score. 67 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4855295. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797465). This revised book combines three of Ms. Trotter's popular books:  Getting Started in Pop Harp, The Creative Folk Harpist, and Let's Play Country Harp.Included are compilations from workshop presentations into this book which contains repertoire suggestions, ways to tune your harp, scales and chords, intervals, seventh chords and minor scales, diminished chords, voicing, inversions, bass patterns, chord progressions, steps in making an arrangement , introductions, endings, and how to play variations on the melody. To be a creative and versatile pop harpist, classic training is valuable and necessary. However, the habit of playing every note as written is sometimes hard to break when learning to improvise. The act of playing notes spontaneously may be overwhelming to the classically trained harpist. There are more and more written arrangements for popular music available to buy, but is satisfying to have the skills to arrange one's own pieces. It is possible to play popular music from a fake book or by ear, with training. The suggestions in this book should help bridge the gap from classical to pop, and hopefully provide some tools for the improvisation necessary for playing popular music. These ideas come from Louise's own experience, and from workshops with nationally knows pop and jazz harpists. It is hoped that the material presented will open up new avenues for the harpist to arrange and improvise in order to widen opportunities to perform. With simple melodies and uncomplicated harmonies, this book also instructs the harpist on the basics of achieving that country-western sound, as well as techniques on imitating such traditional country western instruments as guitar, banjo, fiddle, string bass, and piano. A good book for any harpist wishing to enlarge their repertoire to include this style of music.

Harp - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797293 Composed by Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher. Contemporary. Score. 30 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4800670. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797293). Harpation is a trilogy of solo harp pieces based on a whole-tone scale. It is available in two tuning versions, Eb major and C major, in order to accommodate the most common tunings used by folk harpers. (Harpers who tune in Bb may also use the Eb version.) Pedal harpists may use either tuning, although Eb is recommended for a richer sound. In addition to being interesting selections for pleasure or performance, these pieces teach students contemporary harp techniques in an enjoyable way. Each piece makes an interesting duet if two harps alternate some measures (or sections) in a kind of echo effect. In addition, an ensemble of harpers or harpists may play the entire trilogy simultaneously. The total range required to play all pieces (in both keys) is four and one-half octaves, from low C to high G (33 strings). All harmonics are to be played on the string indicated and not down the octave. Metronome markings are approximations only. Feel free to use choose your own tempos or re-arrange each selection to your liking.

Lever Harp - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1468124 Composed by Rachael Acheson. Celtic,Irish,Medieval,New Age,Renaissance,Video Game. Score. 3 pages. TheHarpLibrarian #1046434. Published by TheHarpLibrarian (A0.1468124). This is an original composition for small or beginner harp. I wrote it on a 26-string lap harp, but the range (from the C below middle C to the C above middle C) would fit a harp as small as 22 strings. It is written in A minor, with no sharps, flats, or other lever changes. As such, this piece should be playable on pretty much any standard small or lap harp, regardless of whether it has levers.Suggested harp models include Harpsicle Harps, Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, Fireside Harps, Marini Made lap harp models, Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, Harp-E harps, and so on.The piece was composed to cheer up a fellow harpist who is still at the beginning of their harp journey. It is meant to invoke a medieval castle, and, as such, could be the perfect piece to take to a renaissance fair, an outdoor wedding, a larp-ing event, or perhaps on vacation with you, if you plan on touring any old castles with your small/lap harp in tow and trying out the acoustics. The song is appropriate for beginner harpists. You may need to practice replacing in a few places to avoid buzzing. But the piece only ever requires you to place in one direction at a time and minimizes the amount of time both hands play simultaneously. You can play it slower than I do in the recording, if you choose, and it should still sound nice. Please note that the preview cuts off after the first few measures of score. When you download your purchase, you will recieve a pdf that contains both the preview and the full score.
