Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797284 Composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687). Arranged by Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher. Baroque. Score. 15 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4797299. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797284). Selections included in this collection were taken from the stage works of Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) and adapted from his keyboard manuscripts. Lully’s music was highly stylized with many trills and mordents, seemingly fussy to the modern ear. Original melodies were retained, most harmonies and much of the voicing. However, in order to adapt them to the harp and make them less cumbersome to play, a number of the mordents and trills were eliminated but just enough of the characteristic French flavor of the pieces remain. Some modifications were made to the Lully’s left-hand notes in order to make the pieces appear more harp-like and facilitate lever changes. (Note: Lever changes are indicated between the staves and pedal changes beneath the bass staff.) Suggested fingerings, dynamics and tempos are provided throughout.

Harp - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938542 Composed by Christopher Schwinger. Contemporary. Score. 18 pages. Christopher Schwinger #45135. Published by Christopher Schwinger (A0.938542). An advanced piece for pedal harp, about 12 minutes long, with lots of melodies and a variety of styles and tempos. It's in western classical harmony and structured as a melodic journey. There are sections with delicate handiwork/hand-work and a little bit of glissandi and pres de la table effects. Three sections in the middle are more extensive, one involving exuberant melodies, another having a waltz-like character, and the central one partly inspired by Weber's Andante and Hungarian Rondo (which I performed on the viola). My goal was to make the piece feel like one great cohesive experience instead of just a lot of little sections, and hopefully you will agree. My other goal was to provide melodies which will delight music-lovers, and package them together in a meaningful way. The PDF also includes composer's notes of musical analysis and the process I went through in writing the piece.

Lever Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1287455 Composed by Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher. 20th Century,21st Century,Celtic,Early Music,Irish,Multicultural,World. Score. 22 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #878476. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.1287455). Seven Original Compositions In Varied Styles Based On Seven Modal Scales For All Harps (Lever or Pedal) With Guitar ChordsTable of Contents1. Ionian Intonation 12. Dorian Delight 33. Phrygian Phrolic 54. Lydian Lilt 75. Mixolydian Mirth 96. Aeolian Aire 117. Locrian Lament 13These tunes may be played on lever harps with an Eb, Bb, F, or C tuning or on any pedal harp. All tunes were typeset to fit exactly on two facing pages to eliminate any page turns within a piece. If desired, the length of each piece can be lengthened by repeating some sections; section divisions are indicated by light double bar lines. Many people are unaccustomed to hearing tunes based on modes other than the Ionian or Aeolian. Therefore, you may find some of the melodic contours or harmonies to be unusual, unexpected, or even uncomfortable. There are only three lever changes in this entire book – and they all occur on the last note of the piece. Guitar chords are included so that the melody may be played by any C instrument, accompanied by chords on harp, lute, guitar, or keyboard. Also, the transcribed harp part can be played on any keyboard instrument with only minoradjustments.Dynamics, fingering, and metronome markings are provided throughout as an aid to performance. However, the harper should use whatever dynamics, fingerings, and tempos suit them, no matter what this book indicates! The maximum range needed for each piece is only 26 strings (3.5 octaves) from low C to high G. Therefore, it can be played on a small harp encompassing that range. Simply treat the C two octaves below middle C as the lowest C on your harp and adjust the octaves accordingly. Ignore any 8va indications and shorten glissandos as needed.

Harp - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797293 Composed by Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher. Contemporary. Score. 30 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4800670. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797293). Harpation is a trilogy of solo harp pieces based on a whole-tone scale. It is available in two tuning versions, Eb major and C major, in order to accommodate the most common tunings used by folk harpers. (Harpers who tune in Bb may also use the Eb version.) Pedal harpists may use either tuning, although Eb is recommended for a richer sound. In addition to being interesting selections for pleasure or performance, these pieces teach students contemporary harp techniques in an enjoyable way. Each piece makes an interesting duet if two harps alternate some measures (or sections) in a kind of echo effect. In addition, an ensemble of harpers or harpists may play the entire trilogy simultaneously. The total range required to play all pieces (in both keys) is four and one-half octaves, from low C to high G (33 strings). All harmonics are to be played on the string indicated and not down the octave. Metronome markings are approximations only. Feel free to use choose your own tempos or re-arrange each selection to your liking.
