Nocturne in C-Sharp Minor, written originally for piano by Frederic Francois Chopin.  He wrote this piece for his older sister as a practice piece before she started on one of his concertos.  This was first published 26 years after Chopin's death.  This piece has been re-arranged to be played on a Pedal Harp.  A few changes had to be made since it is very difficult to play chromatic scales on the harp.  This has been arranged to make those chromatic scales possible.  This is a difficult piece to play, but all pedal changes are notated in the music and where they need to happen.  Overall a very melancholy, but beautiful piece with a lot of dynamic expression.   .

While there are some complex rhythms and silences to count through, the notation itself is relatively simple -- intended to reflect the sparse, lonely/hopeful nature of the original song, which was played on a solo pennywhistle.It is written in the key of G Major (one sharp), which means it can be played on Harpsicle models that are not fully levered (e.g. Sharpsicles, as well as Fullsicles), and there are no lever changes or accidentals. If the harmonics are omitted, and the dotted rhythms counted carefully, this piece could be accessible to a late-beginner, at least from a technique standpoint. This recognizable theme from the 1993 film adaptation of The Secret Garden appears in several different tracks from the score, but most notably in Leaving the Docks and Showing Dickon Garden.I arranged the piece specifically for my 26-string Fullsicle Harpsicle harp, and it should fit on other small harp models with a similar range. But you can, of course, also play it on larger harp models (either lever or pedal), as well.Because the original version was a piano solo, I had to re-organize some of the left-hand chord structures to get it to fit the range of my small harp. But, even with this adaptation, I was able to keep it in the original key (two sharps, so D Major), meaning that owners of Sharpsicle Harpsicle models, and some Roosebeck Pakistani harps, should be able to play this piece, as well as Fullsicle Harpsicle model owners.There are no lever changes or extended techniques, but, at full-speed, the piece can prove much more challenging than it looks at first glance. In particular, I recommend practicing that quick, repetitive Alberti bass in the left-hand with a loose, exagerated oscillation movement to prevent tightness or injury. Also be wary of starting out at a speed that you can't maintain throughout the entirety of the performance.
