This is an easy harp arrangement of Wake Me Up When September Comes by Green Day.  It features a simplified melody line for the right hand and broken chords in the left hand.  Chord symbols also included for improvisation.  Can be adapted for smaller harps - simply play in a different octave.  There is ONE lever change on the C minor chord.  You can flip the lever down on the E to get the E-flat if your harp is tuned in E-flat, then flip it back up in the next measure.  If you prefer not to flip levers, simply leave out the E in that chord entirely.  Harps with no levers? Just play a C and a G on that C minor chord, and leave out the E/E-flat.

This simple, beginner-friendly arrangement of “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross†is a great way to focus on good hand position without worrying about too many notes and rhythms! The lyrics of this hymn are so touching and worshipful, and people will be so blessed to hear you play it. The melody is so beautiful that hearing it on its own is more than enough to enjoy listening to.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Early-Beginner. This piece uses only fingers 1-2. The right and left hand share the melody, never playing at the same time.

Type of Harp: For big and small harps, 22-strings (C-C) or larger.

Range: The lowest note is G above middle C. The highest note is G, one and a half octaves above middle C.

This is a stunning piece to add to your repertoire that will really bless anyone who listens! The melody beautifully intertwines with the left-hand accompaniment, making it sound effortless and free-flowing.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Mid-Intermediate. The right hand mostly carries the melody and frequently shares a continuation of the left-hand accompaniment. The right hand has many overlapping brackets and downward arpeggios. The left hand consists largely of 4-2-1 arpeggios with cross-unders, rolled chords, and jumping to cross over right hand to play notes in the treble clef.

Type of Harp: Big harp version is for 33-string harps or larger, but small harp version works for 26-string (C-G) harps or larger.

Range: For big harps: the lowest note is C, two octaves below middle C. The highest note is F, two and a half octaves above middle C. For small harps: the lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. The highest note is G, two and a half octaves above middle C.

(Un)Tangled Fingers is an exercise-based book with 60 pages of all new material. It includes lots of practice in playing various harp fingering patterns. There are hints, tips and fingering/placing guides. I have included several solos based upon the techniques presented in the exercises. This book is lap harp-friendly (you need C below middle C and 24 or more strings). However, I have also included nine pages of expanded arrangements in the book, to give your larger harp something to play. There are some sample excerpts which you can view here. When you purchase the eBook you can ignore those pages.

You can use this book in conjunction with Harp In Hand and The Harp In Hand Companion, (both available here and on my website) or as a stand-alone book of exercises and harp pieces designed to further your study of, and increase your level of comfort with, harp fingerings. There is a 20-page repertoire section at the end, which includes nine harp solos designed to give you extra practice and confidence in your playing skills.

The audio sample is an excerpt of Waltz With Me, one of the solos.
