Suggested skill level is Advanced Beginner and above. This can be practiced at any speed and the use of barr chords keeps the fingering pretty simple. This isn't intended as a complete song, but rather is a study on the blues chord progression and an exercise in strumming and timing. Get the basic pattern down and you can add a startling amount of improvisation and your own idea of what the blues should be using just basic pentatonic in the box notes/shapes.

I ended up scouring several banjo/bluegrass websites while researching this song. No extra frets required.This well known song is a great way for confident Advanced Beginner players to get a tune under their fingers and then add more complexity as they become comfortable.Advanced Beginner tab focuses on using one and two finger chords and allows the player to become comfortable with a right hand strum pattern that can be played throughout the piece. Any of the chords in the Intermediate tab may be subsituted into the beginner tab for a fuller sound.Intermediate tab adds more complex three finger chords and suggests a syncopated strum as described on the lyrics sheet.
