Both G and C arrangements make use of the 1+ fret.Suggested skill level is Advanced Beginner in D. Arrangements in G and C are more suited to Intermediate players. Included in this packet:~Tablature in all 3 keys~Lead sheet standard notation~Accompaniment chords~Suggested strum pattern~Complete lyrics**LYRICS ADVISORY**Please keep in mind that is a comedic/parody song in the southern gospel swing style.Although the lyrics are not explicit, a few of the verses are a bit irreverent. You may best remember this song from the movie, Cool Hand Luke. Actor Paul Newman's character, Luke, plays a rather meloncholy version of this tune while he is in the jail workhouse. Newman actually learned to play the banjo expressely for that scene. I ended up scouring several banjo/bluegrass websites while researching this song. I found that there are a BUNCH of added verses and choruses with ambiguous origins that have become popular with performers over the years. I have included them for you on the final pages of the packet. The original lyrics appear in bold print in the text box at the beginning of the page. The variations follow and are labeled as alternates. A video demo link will be added soon...

Dulcimer,Instrumental Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1496379 By Jethro Tull. By Ian Anderson. Arranged by Jaymie Maham. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Rock. Individual part. 7 pages. Jaymie Maham #1072948. Published by Jaymie Maham (A0.1496379). Arranged for mountain dulcimer in standard DAd (1-5-8) tuning. No extra frets required. Because of a few sixteenth note embellishments, I'm setting the suggested skill level at Intermediate to Upper Intermediate and above. However, if you enjoy this tune, it's a good one to stretch your abilities. (read below)This progressive rock classic is great fun to play. Use of power (barre) chord shapes in most measures really help to simplify finger positions. Once the chord shape is in place, other notes in the measure can be quickly flatpicked by just repositioning the thumb. Makes what sounds like a very challenging piece much easier to approach. If you're a Jethro Tull fan, you know that this is one of those songs that really sticks in your noggin. The old axiom, if you can sing it, you can play it holds true. Familiarity with the lyrics can help make this piece manageable for all levels of Intermediate player. Included in this packet:~DAd dulcimer tablature~Lead sheet standard notation~Complete lyrics~Accompaniment chords~Notes on finger positions A YouTube demo video will be uploaded soon.

Dulcimer (mountain) - Beginning - Digital Download SKU: M0.93445BCDEB Composed by Bud Ford. Dulcimer: Mountain. Method. E-book and online audio. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #93445BCDEB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.93445BCDEB). ISBN 9781609747824. 8.75x11.75 inches. This instruction manual and song collection is a well-crafted collection of basic dulcimer technique and traditional songs that might have been popular in Cripple Creek, Colorado in the 19th Century-- plus a few modern day tunes by its current inhabitants. The techniques and songs have been transcribed from the performances of Bud and Donna Ford who have been collecting songs for their favorite instrument for some time. Bud and Donna explain the basics of playing the dulcimer, including instructions on strumming, tunings, and picking. Solos are offered in all of the various modes (Ionian, Dorian, Locrian, etc.) in standard notation only with lyrics and chord symbols. The end result is an attractive yet pragmatic book that offers a solid grounding in the art of dulcimer playing. The recording features verbal instruction and performances of most of the tunes in the book on solo dulcimer, making learning easy and fun. The recording used tunings which are lower than those in the book, but this will not affect players reading the tablature. Includes access to online audio.

Dulcimer,Instrumental Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1457985 By Jaymie Maham. By Jaymie Maham. Arranged by Jaymie Maham. Blues,Contemporary,Rock. Individual part. 2 pages. Jaymie Maham #1036967. Published by Jaymie Maham (A0.1457985). What happens when you take the basic 12 bar blues in the key of D and mix in a doo wop riff? You get a fusion that results in a funky boogie woogie vamp! For mountain dulcimer in standard DAd (1-5-8) tuning, no extra frets are required, but a couple of extra bends in the right spots help with getting that bluesy attitude. Suggested skill level is Advanced Beginner and above. This can be practiced at any speed and the use of barr chords keeps the fingering pretty simple. This isn't intended as a complete song, but rather is a study on the blues chord progression and an exercise in strumming and timing. Get the basic pattern down and you can add a startling amount of improvisation and your own idea of what the blues should be using just basic pentatonic in the box notes/shapes.

Dulcimer,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1370318 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Mark Alan Wade. Advent,Christian,Christmas. Individual part. 2 pages. Mark Alan Wade #952369. Published by Mark Alan Wade (A0.1370318). This delightful medley offers a glimpse into Christmastime with three favorite carols arranged for Hammered Dulcimer. Beginning with the French carol Patapan, the minor melody is introduced over an ostinato in the right hand. A clever modulation takes us to G Major and Jingle Bells. The right hand continues its hand independence while the left hand plays the familiar melody above. After a repeat of the chorus, an elongated tag brings us to 3/4 time and D major for The Holly and The Ivy. With a slightly slower tempo, this beloved carol sings out over an evolving right hand ostinato that is no longer confined to root position chords. This piece is perfect for intermediate players and beyond who are ready to add independent parts for each hand. It's fun to play and quick to learn.
