La popolarità delle composizioni, degli arrangiamenti e degli esercizi di Wilhelm Popp non è mai diminuita e deriva dalla sua capacità di scrivere in stile concertistico romantico tenendo conto delle possibilità tecniche di alunni e dilettanti. Russisches Zigeunerlied op. 462/2, stampato per la prima volta nel 1896, ne è l'esempio migliore. Ideale per lezioni, concerti degli alunni o per concorsi. Anche la trascrizione per Ocarina e pianoforte di Emiliano Bernagozzi mantiene lo spirito virtuosistico e allo stesso tempo didattico della versione originale.
