Drums - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998778 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 2 pages. Robert A. Howard #5888845. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998778). The starting point for this piece is a variant of the opening snare drum rhythm of the second movement of Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra (1943). This work was originally a short piece from 1995 (marking 50 years after Bartok's death). It was later extended and elaborated upon to make this virtuosic two-minute study. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for most standards of percussionist, including students and more advanced players. A companion piece, 'Study for Snare No. 2' by Robert A. Howard is also available from Sheet Music Plus.

Drum Set,Drums - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1475420 By Tracy Dean McCallum. By Tracy Dean McCallum. Arranged by Tracy Dean McCallum. 21st Century,Jazz,Rock. Score. 4 pages. Tracy Dean McCallum #1052971. Published by Tracy Dean McCallum (A0.1475420). https://tracymccallum.com/The Offbeat Shuffle: A Drun Beat DisruptionThis disrupts the Drun Beat Groove by shifting the emphasis to the off-beats, creating a more playful and unpredictable feel.Tempo: Maintain the original tempo (around 100-120 BPM) to keep the foundation steady.Feel: Instead of the classic swing with a focus on the downbeat and upbeat, the Offbeat Shuffle emphasizes the backbeat (snare) and the spaces between. Think of a laid-back, almost nonchalant groove.Articulation: Keep a clean and tight sound. Ghost notes can be used sparingly for subtle accents.Groove Breakdown:Kick Drum: Play a steady pattern on the kick drum, but slightly behind the beat. This creates a sense of pushing the groove forward.Snare Drum: The snare becomes the main focus, landing primarily on the off-beats (between the kick drum hits). This creates a syncopated feel that disrupts the original swing.Hi-Hat: Instead of a steady eighth-note pattern, try a closed hi-hat on the quarter notes with open hi-hats on the off-beats. This adds a rhythmic counterpoint to the snare.Adding Variation:Fills: Introduce short, syncopated fills that land on the off-beats. These can be based on simple rolls or flams on the snare and toms.Cymbal Accents: Crash cymbals can be strategically placed on accents or at the end of phrases, adding punctuation to the groove.Overall Effect:The Offbeat Shuffle disrupts the Drun Beat Groove by creating a playful and unpredictable feel. It retains the basic tempo and keeps the groove danceable, but adds a layer of rhythmic tension and surprise. This showcases the drummer's creativity within the established framework.pen_spark    tuneshare more_vert
